أعلن نادي برشلونة الرياضي الإكوادوري، وفاة لاعبه المدافع ماريو بينيدا، البالغ من العمر 33 عاماً، إثر تعرضه لهجوم مسلح في مدينة غواياكيل الساحلية، في حادثة جديدة تعكس تصاعد العنف المرتبط بعصابات المخدرات في البلاد.

وقع الهجوم حوالي الساعة الرابعة مساءً في حي سامانيس 4 شمال غواياكيل، حيث أطلق مسلحان على دراجة نارية النار على بينيدا أمام متجر جزارة أو محل تجاري.
وتوفي اللاعب فوراً متأثراً بإصاباته، كما قتل شخص آخر كان برفقته (زوجته أو شريكته حسب بعض المصادر)، وأصيب ثالث بجروح.

وأكدت وزارة الداخلية الإكوادورية الحادثة، وكلفت وحدة شرطة خاصة بالتحقيق، دون الكشف عن تفاصيل إضافية حول الدوافع.

بينيدا، بدأ مسيرته الاحترافية مع إندبندينتي ديل فالي (2010 - 2015)، ثم انتقل إلى برشلونة غواياكيل في 2016، حيث فاز بلقبين في الدوري المحلي (2016 و2020)، وسجل 3 أهداف وقدم 10 تمريرات حاسمة في 224 مباراة.
لعب أيضاً مع فلومينينسي البرازيلي في 2022، وكان قد أعير إلى إل ناسيونال في النصف الأخير من 2024، كما مثل المنتخب الإكوادوري في 9 مباريات دولية، وشارك في تصفيات كأس العالم 2018 و2022، بالإضافة إلى كوبا أمريكا 2021.
وأعرب نادي برشلونة عن "الحزن العميق" في بيان رسمي: “نُبلغ بحزن شديد عن تلقينا إخطاراً رسمياً بوفاة لاعبنا ماريو بينيدا إثر اعتداء عليه”، كما نعى الاتحاد الإكوادوري لكرة القدم اللاعب، وأصدر فلومينينسي بيان تعازٍ.
The Ecuadorian sports club Barcelona announced the death of its defender Mario Pineda, aged 33, after he was attacked in a shooting in the coastal city of Guayaquil, in a new incident reflecting the rising violence associated with drug gangs in the country.

The attack occurred around 4 PM in the Samanes 4 neighborhood north of Guayaquil, where two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on Pineda in front of a butcher shop or commercial store.
The player died instantly from his injuries, and another person who was with him (his wife or partner according to some sources) was also killed, while a third person was injured.

Mario Pineda's Career
Pineda began his professional career with Independiente del Valle (2010 - 2015), then moved to Barcelona Guayaquil in 2016, where he won two local league titles (2016 and 2020), scored 3 goals, and provided 10 assists in 224 matches.
He also played with Brazilian club Fluminense in 2022, and was loaned to El Nacional in the latter half of 2024, as well as representing the Ecuadorian national team in 9 international matches, participating in the World Cup qualifiers for 2018 and 2022, in addition to the Copa America 2021.
Barcelona expressed "deep sorrow" in an official statement: “We are deeply saddened to announce that we have received official notification of the death of our player Mario Pineda following an attack on him,” while the Ecuadorian Football Federation mourned the player, and Fluminense issued a condolence statement.
