في تأكيد جديد على التوترات المتصاعدة بين البلدين والتي تحمل انعكاسات اقتصادية وجيوسياسية واسعة، أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب (الثلاثاء)، فرض حصار كامل وشامل على جميع ناقلات النفط الخاضعة للعقوبات والمتجهة إلى فنزويلا أو خارجها.
وقال في منشور على منصته «تروث سوشيال» إن هذه الخطوة تأتي لمواجهة ما وصفه باستخدام النظام الفنزويلي لعائدات النفط في تمويل تهريب المخدرات والأنشطة الإجرامية الأخرى.
وتأتي هذه الخطوة بعد أن استولت القوات الأمريكية الأسبوع الماضي على ناقلة نفط قبالة السواحل الفنزويلية، في إجراء غير معتاد تزامن مع حشد عسكري واسع في منطقة الكاريبي.
وأشار ترمب إلى أن الأسطول البحري الأمريكي المنتشر في المنطقة سيزداد حجماً لضمان إعادة ما وصفه بـ«النفط والأراضي والأصول المسروقة سابقًا» إلى الولايات المتحدة، مضيفًا أن النظام الفنزويلي تم تصنيفه كمنظمة إرهابية أجنبية.
وأكد الرئيس الأمريكي أن فنزويلا ستتلقى صدمة غير مسبوقة، وأن «نظام مادورو غير الشرعي يستخدم النفط من حقولنا المسروقة لتمويل أنشطته».
In a new confirmation of the escalating tensions between the two countries, which carry wide economic and geopolitical implications, U.S. President Donald Trump announced (on Tuesday) a complete and total blockade on all oil tankers subject to sanctions heading to or from Venezuela.
He stated in a post on his platform "Truth Social" that this step comes in response to what he described as the Venezuelan regime's use of oil revenues to finance drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
This move follows the U.S. forces' seizure of an oil tanker off the Venezuelan coast last week, an unusual action coinciding with a large military buildup in the Caribbean region.
Trump indicated that the U.S. naval fleet deployed in the area will increase in size to ensure the return of what he referred to as "stolen oil, land, and assets" to the United States, adding that the Venezuelan regime has been designated as a foreign terrorist organization.
He affirmed that Venezuela will face an unprecedented shock, stating that "the illegitimate Maduro regime is using oil from our stolen fields to finance its activities."
