على الرغم من مرور سنوات على إدانته في قضية تمويل حملته الرئاسية من ليبيا، يبدو أن متاعب الرئيس الفرنسي السابق نيكولا ساركوزي لم تنتهِ بعد. النيابة الوطنية المالية الفرنسية طلبت أمس (الثلاثاء) فتح تحقيق في ملف جديد يتعلق بمحاولة التأثير على شاهد رئيسي في القضية نفسها، ما قد يعيده إلى مقاعد المحاكم مرة أخرى ويشعل جدلاً واسعاً في الأوساط السياسية والقضائية.
وطلبت النيابة إحالة ساركوزي إلى المحكمة إلى جانب 10 آخرين، بينهم زوجته كارلا بروني ساركوزي، في قضية تتعلق بشبهات تواطؤ للتأثير على تراجع رجل الأعمال الراحل زياد تقي الدين عن أقواله بشأن التمويل الليبي لحملة 2007، وهي وقائع مختلفة عن تلك التي أدين بسببها وحُكم عليه بالسجن خمس سنوات.
لكن القرار بشأن إحالة هؤلاء على المحاكمة بيد قاضي التحقيق المشرف على هذا الملف المرتبط بتراجع تقي الدين عن اتهامه ساركوزي بتلقي تمويل ليبي، في خطوة يُشتبه بأنها جاءت مقابل مبالغ مالية.
ووجّه تقي الدين الذي توفي عن 75 عاماً، اتهامات متكررة لساركوزي بتلقي أموال من الزعيم الليبي الراحل معمر القذافي ومقربين منه، وهو ما نفاه الرئيس السابق مراراً.
وكان رجل الأعمال ملاحقاً بموجب مذكرة توقيف في القضية نفسها.
وتُوفي تقي الدين في سبتمبر، وكان قد صرّح في مايو 2012 لوسائل إعلام أن تمويل ليبيا حملة الرئيس الفرنسي السابق «حقيقة».
وفي أواخر 2016، تحدث لموقع «ميديابار» الاستقصائي الفرنسي عن حقائب مليئة بنقود وخمسة ملايين يورو مُنحت عامي 2006 و2007 لساركوزي الذي كان يشغل منصب وزير الداخلية آنذاك، ومدير مكتبه كلود غيان.
Despite the years that have passed since his conviction in the case of financing his presidential campaign from Libya, it seems that the troubles of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy are not over yet. The French national financial prosecutor requested yesterday (Tuesday) to open an investigation into a new file related to an attempt to influence a key witness in the same case, which could bring him back to the courtroom and ignite widespread controversy in political and judicial circles.
The prosecutor requested to refer Sarkozy to court along with 10 others, including his wife Carla Bruni Sarkozy, in a case related to suspicions of collusion to influence the retraction of the late businessman Ziad Takieddine regarding his statements about Libyan funding for the 2007 campaign, which are different from those for which he was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison.
However, the decision regarding the referral of these individuals to trial is in the hands of the investigating judge overseeing this file related to Takieddine's retraction of his accusation against Sarkozy of receiving Libyan funding, in a step suspected to have come in exchange for financial sums.
Takieddine, who passed away at the age of 75, repeatedly accused Sarkozy of receiving money from the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and his close associates, which the former president has repeatedly denied.
The businessman was wanted under an arrest warrant in the same case.
Takieddine died in September and had stated in May 2012 to the media that the funding of Libya for the former French president's campaign was a "fact."
In late 2016, he spoke to the French investigative website "Mediapart" about bags full of cash and five million euros given in 2006 and 2007 to Sarkozy, who was serving as Minister of the Interior at the time, and his chief of staff Claude Guéant.
