وقع الشجار عندما تقدمت نائبات من حزب العمل الوطني اليميني (PAN) نحو المنصة الرئيسية للمجلس احتجاجاً على ما اعتبرنه خرقاً لقاعدة من قبل حزب مورينا اليساري، الذي يتمتع بالأغلبية داخل الهيئة التشريعية.
وأظهر مقطع فيديو متداول ما لا يقل عن 5 مشرعات من الحزبين وهن يدخلن في جدال حاد، قبل أن يتطور إلى اشتباك بالأيدي، وتبادل الدفع بالمرافق والصفع وشد الشعر. وقد حاول نواب من حزب مورينا إخراج عضوات حزب العمل الوطني بالقوة من المنصة رغم إصرارهن على البقاء.
وبحسب تقارير إعلامية محلية، جاء الخلاف في سياق نقاشات تتعلق بإصلاح وكالة الرقابة على الشفافية التابعة لحكومة مدينة مكسيكو.

The brawl broke out when female representatives from the right-wing National Action Party (PAN) approached the main podium of the council in protest against what they considered a violation of rules by the leftist Morena party, which holds the majority in the legislative body.
A circulating video showed at least 5 lawmakers from both parties entering into a heated argument, which escalated into a physical fight, involving pushing, slapping, and hair-pulling. Members of the Morena party attempted to forcibly remove the National Action Party members from the podium despite their insistence on staying.
According to local media reports, the dispute arose in the context of discussions regarding the reform of the transparency oversight agency of the Mexico City government.
