انتقل إلى رحمة الله في مدينة الطائف، القاص عُقيلي بن عبدالغني الغامدي، و تمت الصلاة عليه ودفنه اليوم في محافظة الطائف؛ والراحل من مواليد ؛ رغدان في منطقة الباحة؛ عام1365هـ وتخرج معلماً ثم التحق بالكلية المتوسطة في مكة، وتخرج منها؛ و عمل بالتدريس في كل من الباحة والطائف، وانتقل للعمل في الإدارةالمدرسية بمحافظة الطائف؛ ثم مديراً لمدرسة الأبناء الابتدائيةوالمتوسطة في سكن الضباط في الطائف؛ وشخصية الراحل تميزت بالنقاء و سماحة النفس وطيب المعشر و سعة الثقافة؛ اعتنى رحمه الله بالقصة كتابةً و رواية؛ وصدرت له مجاميع (الأخطبوط والمستنقع) و(شجرة الليمون) كما صدر له في عام 1431هـ كتاب (المعلامة) الذي حوى مذكرات تعليمية وثق بها قصة التعليم في منطقة الباحة، عبر سرد قصصي لواقع الحياة القروية في السبعينات والثمانينات الهجرية، وله كتاب (توثيقي لإصدارات الطائف من عام 1396هـ إلى 1424هـ ) و كتاب (نادي الطائف الأدبي الثقافي 37 عاماً من العطاء).
«عكاظ» التي آلمها النبأ تتقدم بخالص التعازي والمواساة لذوي الفقيد، سائلة الله أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته ويسكنه فسيح جناته. (إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون).
The storyteller Oqaili bin Abdulghani Al-Ghamdi passed away in the city of Taif, and the prayer was performed for him and he was buried today in the Taif Governorate; the deceased was born in Raghadan in the Al-Baha region in the year 1365 AH. He graduated as a teacher and then joined the intermediate college in Mecca, from which he graduated; he worked in teaching in both Al-Baha and Taif, and moved to work in school administration in the Taif Governorate; then as the principal of the Al-Abna'a Primary and Intermediate School in the officers' housing in Taif. The personality of the deceased was characterized by purity, generosity of spirit, kindness, and a wide culture; may God have mercy on him, he took care of storytelling both in writing and narration; he published collections such as (The Octopus and the Swamp) and (The Lemon Tree). He also published in the year 1431 AH the book (Al-Ma'lamah), which contained educational memoirs documenting the story of education in the Al-Baha region, through a narrative of rural life in the 1970s and 1980s AH. He has a book (Documenting the Publications of Taif from the year 1396 AH to 1424 AH) and a book (The Taif Literary and Cultural Club: 37 Years of Giving).
“Okaz,” which was saddened by the news, extends its heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, asking God to envelop him in His vast mercy and to grant him a place in His spacious gardens. (Indeed, we belong to God and indeed to Him we shall return).
