أدت جموع غفيرة من المصلين في جامع الملك سلمان بمحافظة خميس مشيط، صلاة الجنازة على جثمان الشاعر السعودي سعود بن معدي القحطاني، الذي انتقل إلى رحمة الله تعالى إثر سقوطه من جبل سمحان بمحافظة ظفار في سلطنة عمان، فيما دُفن جثمانه وسط حضور كبير من المشيعين الذين صلوا على جنازته أيضاً بمقبرة الكرامة في محالة أبها. وكانت السفارة السعودية في مسقط قد باشرت في حينه، حادثة سقوط القحطاني من مرتفعات جبل سمحان في صلالة، والذي أدى إلى وفاته، فيما عملت بالتنسيق مع السلطات المختصة في سلطنة عمان لإتمام إجراءات نقل جثمان المتوفى إلى المملكة.
وقال والد الفقيد: «جزيل الشكر والتقدير والعرفان، لقيادتنا الرشيدة ممثلة في خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، على تسهيل نقل جثمان ابني الفقيد عبر طائرة من سلطنة عمان إلى مسقط رأسه، وكذلك مهاتفة وتعزية سفير المملكة في سلطنة عمان».
وضجت مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي بعد إعلان خبر وفاة الشاعر سعود القحطاني، وتم تداول العديد من الصور والمواقف التي تُحكي إبداعات الفقيد، وكذلك مقطع فيديو يوضح مشيه ومرافقيه على الأقدام قبل سقوطه في جبل سمحان، رحمه الله، وغفر له، وأسكنه فسيح جناته.
A large crowd of worshippers at King Salman Mosque in Khamis Mushait performed the funeral prayer for the body of Saudi poet Saud bin Maadi Al-Qahtani, who passed away after falling from Jabal Samhan in Dhofar Governorate, Oman. His body was buried in the presence of many mourners who also prayed for him at Al-Karama Cemetery in Muhalla Abha. The Saudi embassy in Muscat had promptly addressed the incident of Al-Qahtani's fall from the heights of Jabal Samhan in Salalah, which led to his death, while coordinating with the relevant authorities in Oman to complete the procedures for transporting the deceased's body to the Kingdom.
The father of the deceased said: "I extend my heartfelt thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to our wise leadership represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for facilitating the transfer of my son's body via a plane from Oman to his birthplace, as well as for the phone call and condolences from the Saudi ambassador in Oman."
Social media erupted after the announcement of the death of poet Saud Al-Qahtani, with many photos and stories being shared that recount the late poet's creativity, as well as a video clip showing his walk and his companions on foot before his fall in Jabal Samhan.
