أعلنت الشرطة الأوكرانية، الجمعة، مصرع خمسة أشخاص وإصابة شخصين آخرين جراء اصطدام سيارة بلغم أرضي في غابة شمالي أوكرانيا.
وقالت الشرطة، في بيان، إن الانفجار وقع في منطقة حدودية قرب بيلاروسيا، عندما مرت السيارة فوق شحنة ناسفة في منطقة ألغام.. مشيرة إلى أن الضحايا جميعهم ذكور و تتراوح أعمارهم بين 19 و65 عاما، وقد توفي 5 منهم على الفور، بينما نقل اثنان إلى المستشفى لتلقي العلاج جراء إصاباتهما.
وأظهرت صور نشرها محققون حطام السيارة في منطقة زيتومير، ولافتة تحذيرية على شجرة قريبة تنبه إلى خطر الألغام.
وأوضحت الشرطة أن المدنيين كانوا يقطعون الأخشاب قرب الحدود البيلاروسية.
وأفادت السلطات بوقوع حادثة ثانية مرتبطة بالألغام في غابة قريبة، أصيب خلالها رجل ونقل إلى المستشفى.
The Ukrainian police announced on Friday that five people were killed and two others injured as a result of a car hitting a landmine in a forest in northern Ukraine.
The police stated in a statement that the explosion occurred in a border area near Belarus when the car drove over an explosive device in a minefield. They noted that all the victims were male, aged between 19 and 65, with five of them dying instantly, while two were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Photos released by investigators showed the wreckage of the car in the Zhytomyr region, along with a warning sign on a nearby tree alerting to the danger of mines.
The police clarified that the civilians were cutting wood near the Belarusian border.
The authorities reported a second mine-related incident in a nearby forest, where a man was injured and taken to the hospital.
