أعلنت قناة «فيستي» الروسية أن الكرملين اعتبر من «الخطأ الحديث عن إلغاء الاجتماع المرتقب بين الرئيسين الروسي فلاديمير بوتين والأمريكي دونالد ترمب»، موضحا أن «الاستعداد لذلك اللقاء يبقى أمرا ضروريا رغم التوتر السياسي الراهن».
وقال المتحدث باسم الكرملين ديمتري بيسكوف إن لقاء القمة بين الرئيسين لم يُلغَ رسميا، لكنه أشار إلى أن «كلا الجانبين ليس لديهما ما يضيفانه في الوقت الحالي»، مضيفا أن وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرغي لافروف ونظيره الأمريكي ماركو روبيو سيواصلان التنسيق بشأن الملفات الخلافية المعقدة.
وتزامنت هذه التصريحات مع إعلان الولايات المتحدة فرض عقوبات اقتصادية جديدة على شركتي النفط الروسيتين «روس نفط» و«لوك أويل»، ووصفتها موسكو بأنها «خطوة عدائية» تهدف إلى زيادة الضغط على الاقتصاد الروسي.
وأوضح بيسكوف أن بلاده «تسعى إلى بناء علاقات ودّية مع جميع الدول، بما في ذلك الولايات المتحدة»، لكنه شدد على أن «العقوبات لن تدفع روسيا للتراجع عن مصالحها الوطنية». وأضاف: «حتى لو كانت تصريحات الرئيس الأمريكي تشير إلى نية إعادة الحوار، فإن الأفعال على الأرض لا تعكس ذلك».
وأكد المتحدث الروسي أن موسكو سترد وفق مبدأ المعاملة بالمثل، مشيرا إلى أن «العقوبات السابقة لم تحقق أهدافها، ولن تُثني روسيا عن مواقفها»، لافتا إلى أن بلاده تحتفظ بحق مصادرة أصول أمريكية مجمدة داخل الأراضي الروسية إذا لزم الأمر.
ويرى مراقبون أن هذه التطورات تنذر بمزيد من التصعيد بين القوتين، خصوصا مع تعثر المباحثات الدبلوماسية وعودة لغة العقوبات المتبادلة إلى الواجهة بعد فترة من الهدوء النسبي.
The Russian channel "Vesti" announced that the Kremlin considered it "a mistake to talk about canceling the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump," clarifying that "preparation for that meeting remains necessary despite the current political tension."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the summit meeting between the two presidents has not been officially canceled, but he pointed out that "both sides have nothing to add at the moment," adding that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his American counterpart Marco Rubio will continue to coordinate on complex contentious issues.
These statements coincided with the announcement by the United States of new economic sanctions on the two Russian oil companies "Rosneft" and "Lukoil," which Moscow described as "an aggressive step" aimed at increasing pressure on the Russian economy.
Peskov explained that his country "seeks to build friendly relations with all countries, including the United States," but emphasized that "sanctions will not push Russia to retreat from its national interests." He added: "Even if the American president's statements indicate an intention to resume dialogue, the actions on the ground do not reflect that."
The Russian spokesman confirmed that Moscow will respond based on the principle of reciprocity, noting that "previous sanctions did not achieve their goals and will not deter Russia from its positions," pointing out that his country reserves the right to seize frozen American assets within Russian territory if necessary.
Observers believe that these developments herald further escalation between the two powers, especially with the stalling of diplomatic talks and the return of the language of mutual sanctions to the forefront after a period of relative calm.
