لقي عاملان حتفهما في حريق اندلع في حقل الزبير النفطي غرب محافظة البصرة العراقية، اليوم (الأحد)، فيما لم يتأثر إنتاج الحقل، الذي يبلغ نحو 400 ألف برميل يومياً.
وأعلن مسؤولون عراقيون أن الحريق «اندلع بينما كان عاملون يجرون عمليات لحام بالقرب من خط الأنابيب، وتسبب في إصابة خمسة آخرين بجروح خطيرة»، فيما أشاروا إلى أن بعض العمال المصابين تعرضوا لحروق خطيرة وما زالوا في حالة حرجة، ما يثير مخاوف من ارتفاع عدد الوفيات.
وقال مسؤول في حقل الزبير، إن الإنتاج لم يتأثر حتى الآن بالحريق، لكنه أكد ضرورة إخماده سريعاً لتجنب تعليق جزئي لبعض عمليات التحميل.
وتمكنت مديرية الدفاع المدني في محافظة البصرة، من السيطرة على الحريق.
وأفادت مديرية الدفاع المدني في بيان أوردته وكالة الأنباء العراقية «واع»، بأن فرق الدفاع المدني في المحافظة، باشرت إخماد حريق نشب في أحد المواقع النفطية في البرجسية رقم 1 نتيجة لانفجار أحد التوربينات.
وأضافت أن الحادثة تسببت في حريق ضخم، وأن فرق الدفاع المدني تواصل عمليات إخماد الحريق.
Two workers lost their lives in a fire that broke out at the Al-Zubair oil field west of Basra province in Iraq today (Sunday), while the field's production, which amounts to about 400,000 barrels per day, was not affected.
Iraqi officials announced that the fire "broke out while workers were conducting welding operations near the pipeline, resulting in five others being seriously injured," noting that some of the injured workers suffered severe burns and remain in critical condition, raising concerns about an increase in the death toll.
A source at the Al-Zubair field stated that production has not yet been affected by the fire, but emphasized the need to extinguish it quickly to avoid a partial suspension of some loading operations.
The Civil Defense Directorate in Basra province managed to control the fire.
The Civil Defense Directorate reported in a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency "WAA," that civil defense teams in the province began extinguishing a fire that broke out at one of the oil sites in Al-Burjasiya No. 1 due to an explosion of one of the turbines.
It added that the incident caused a massive fire, and civil defense teams continue their efforts to extinguish the blaze.
