أعلن الجيش السوداني اليوم (السبت) تصديه لهجوم جديد شنّته قوات الدعم السريع على مدينة الفاشر عاصمة ولاية شمال دارفور، جنوب غربي البلاد، مؤكداً أن الهجوم شُنّ من 5 محاور.
وقالت الفرقة السادسة في بيان إن قوات الدعم السريع حشدت مقاتليها وسياراتها المدرعة لشنّ هجماتها التي بدأت الثالثة فجراً مستبقة الهجوم بعمليات قصف مكثف على أنحاء المدينة كافة، موضحة أنها دمرت عشرات المركبات القتالية وكبدت المهاجمين خسائر كبيرة.
وأشارت الفرقة إلى أن قوات الدعم السريع عاودت الهجوم مرة أخرى منتصف النهار عبر المحور الغربي، وتم التصدي لها وإحداث خسائر في عناصرها وعتادها الحربي، مبينة أن ما تبقى من القوة المهاجمة فرّ خارج المدينة.
وقال شهود عيان إن المواجهات البرية العنيفة بين الجيش السوداني وقوات الدعم السريع في مدينة الفاشر تجددت وتركزت بالمحور الشمالي والشمالي الغربي والجنوبي، واستُخدمت فيها المسيّرات والمدفعية الثقيلة.
وتعتبر مدينة الفاشر آخر معاقل الجيش في إقليم دارفور، يعيش فيها أكثر من 250 ألف مدني، نصفهم من الأطفال، تحت حصار خانق تفرضه قوات الدعم السريع منذ أكثر من 16 شهراً، وبحسب تقارير الأمم المتحدة فإن المدينة باتت على شفا مجاعة، بعد أن انهارت المرافق الصحية ونفد الغذاء والدواء، ما يعرّض آلاف الأطفال لخطر الموت الوشيك نتيجة سوء التغذية الحاد.
The Sudanese army announced today (Saturday) that it has repelled a new attack launched by the Rapid Support Forces on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, in the southwest of the country, confirming that the attack was launched from five axes.
The sixth division stated in a statement that the Rapid Support Forces had mobilized their fighters and armored vehicles to launch their attacks, which began at three in the morning, preceded by intensive shelling across the entire city, clarifying that they destroyed dozens of combat vehicles and inflicted significant losses on the attackers.
The division indicated that the Rapid Support Forces renewed their attack again at noon through the western axis, and they were repelled, resulting in losses among their personnel and military equipment, noting that what remained of the attacking force fled outside the city.
Eyewitnesses reported that intense ground clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in the city of El Fasher have resumed, focusing on the northern, northwestern, and southern axes, with the use of drones and heavy artillery.
The city of El Fasher is considered the last stronghold of the army in the Darfur region, housing more than 250,000 civilians, half of whom are children, under a suffocating siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces for over 16 months. According to United Nations reports, the city is on the brink of famine, as health facilities have collapsed and food and medicine have run out, putting thousands of children at risk of imminent death due to severe malnutrition.
