احتدمت المعارك والمواجهات البرية بين قوات الجيش السوداني والدعم السريع، اليوم (السبت)، في مدينة الفاشر عاصمة ولاية شمال دارفور، جنوب غرب البلاد.
وأفادت مصادر سودانية وشهود عيان، بأن المواجهات تركزت في المحور الشمالي والشمالي الغربي والجنوبي، واستخدمت فيها المسيرات والمدفعية الثقيلة.
بالتزامن، أعلنت قوات الدعم السريع أنها سيطرت على مدينة بارا بولاية شمال كردفان. وقال مستشار قائد قوات الدعم الباشا طبيق، إن قواته استولت على مدينة بارا الإستراتيجية.
وأضاف في منشور على صفحته في «فيسبوك»، أن قوات الدعم «تحصر حجم الخسائر في صفوف الجيش ومناصريه، وتطارد من تبقى منهم حتى تخوم مدينة الأبيض عاصمة الولاية، وفق قوله».
وبثت قوات الدعم السريع مساء أمس مقاطع فيديو أكدت فيها سيطرتها على قصر السلطان على دينار، بالقرب من قيادة الفرقة السادسة مشاة وعدد من المباني السيادية حول الفرقة السادسة التي أعلنت سابقا تصديها لجميع محاولات تسلل قوات الدعم السريع على عمق مدينة الفاشر.
وتعد مدينة الفاشر آخر معاقل قوات الجيش في إقليم دارفور، ويعيش فيها أكثر من 250 ألف مدني، نصفهم من الأطفال، تحت حصار خانق تفرضه قوات الدعم السريع منذ أكثر من 16 شهرًا، وفق تقديرات أممية.
وكانت الأمم المتحدة، حذرت أمس (الجمعة)، من أن المدينة باتت على شفا مجاعة، بعد أن انهارت المرافق الصحية ونفد الغذاء والدواء، مما يعرّض آلاف الأطفال لخطر الموت الوشيك نتيجة سوء التغذية الحاد.
وتسببت الحرب التي تقترب من عامها الثالث بين قوات الجيش والدعم السريع، في مقتل عشرات الآلاف وتشريد أكثر من 14 مليون شخص داخل البلاد وخارجها، أي نحو ثلث السكان.
The battles and ground confrontations between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces intensified today (Saturday) in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, in the southwest of the country.
Sudanese sources and eyewitnesses reported that the confrontations were concentrated in the northern, northwestern, and southern axes, with the use of drones and heavy artillery.
At the same time, the Rapid Support Forces announced that they had taken control of the city of Bara in North Kordofan state. The advisor to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Bashar Tabik, stated that his forces seized the strategic city of Bara.
He added in a post on his Facebook page that the Rapid Support Forces "are assessing the extent of losses among the army and its supporters, and are pursuing the remaining ones to the outskirts of the city of Al-Obeid, the capital of the state, according to his statement."
Last night, the Rapid Support Forces broadcast videos confirming their control over the Sultan Ali Dinar Palace, near the headquarters of the Sixth Infantry Division and several sovereign buildings around the Sixth Division, which had previously announced its resistance to all attempts by the Rapid Support Forces to infiltrate deep into the city of El Fasher.
El Fasher is considered the last stronghold of the army in the Darfur region, housing more than 250,000 civilians, half of whom are children, under a suffocating siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces for more than 16 months, according to UN estimates.
The United Nations warned yesterday (Friday) that the city is on the brink of famine, as health facilities have collapsed and food and medicine have run out, putting thousands of children at risk of imminent death due to acute malnutrition.
The war, which is approaching its third year between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of more than 14 million people both inside and outside the country, which is about one-third of the population.
