في خطوة استفزازية تهدد حل الدولتين، أقر الكنيست الإسرائيلي في قراءة أولية مقترح قانون ضم الضفة الغربية المحتلة، اليوم(الأربعاء).
وبحسب القناة 12 الإسرائيلية، صوّت 25 نائبا لصالح القانون، مقابل 24 صوتوا ضده، وكان صوت رئيس لجنة الخارجية والأمن السابق، يولي إدلشتاين، هو الصوت الحاسم.
وعلق وزير المالية اليميني المتطرف بتسلئيل سموتريتش قائلا: «سيدي رئيس الوزراء، الكنيست قال كلمته، الشعب قال كلمته، حان الوقت لفرض السيادة الكاملة على جميع أراضي يهودا والسامرة، وللدفع نحو اتفاقيات سلام مقابل سلام مع جيراننا من موقع قوة».
من جانبه، قال وزير الأمن القومي الإسرائيلي إيتمار بن غفير: «حان وقت السيادة الآن».
وأقر الكنيست أيضا بالقراءة التمهيدية مشروع قانون منفصل اقترحه أفيغدور ليبرمان من حزب «إسرائيل بيتنا» لفرض السيادة الإسرائيلية على مستوطنة معاليه أدوميم قرب القدس. وأُقرّ المشروع بتأييد 32 عضوا ومعارضة 9 أعضاء.
وكان موقع «أكسيوس» الإخباري الأمريكي أعلن أن أكثر من 40 عضوا ديمقراطيا في مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي، طالبوا الرئيس دونالد ترمب بتعزيز معارضته لخطط إسرائيل الرامية إلى ضم أجزاء من الضفة الغربية المحتلة.
فيما كشف موقع «بوليتيكو»، الشهر الماضي، أن الرئيس ترمب تعهد لزعماء عرب، خلال اجتماع عقد على هامش أعمال الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، بعدم السماح لرئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو بضم الضفة الغربية.
وتتباين الآراء داخل الحكومة الإسرائيلية بين من يدعو إلى ضم كامل للضفة المحتلة، وبين من يرى أن السيادة الجزئية تكفي لضمان الاعتراف الأمريكي وتفادي ردود فعل دولية قوية.
In a provocative step that threatens the two-state solution, the Israeli Knesset approved in a preliminary reading a proposed law to annex the occupied West Bank today (Wednesday).
According to Israeli Channel 12, 25 members voted in favor of the law, while 24 voted against it, with the vote of the former chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, Yuli Edelstein, being the decisive one.
Right-wing Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich commented, saying: “Mr. Prime Minister, the Knesset has spoken, the people have spoken, it is time to impose full sovereignty over all the lands of Judea and Samaria, and to push for peace agreements in exchange for peace with our neighbors from a position of strength.”
For his part, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said: “The time for sovereignty is now.”
The Knesset also approved in a preliminary reading a separate bill proposed by Avigdor Lieberman from the Yisrael Beiteinu party to impose Israeli sovereignty over the Ma'ale Adumim settlement near Jerusalem. The bill was approved with 32 members in favor and 9 against.
The American news site Axios reported that more than 40 Democratic members of the U.S. Senate called on President Donald Trump to strengthen his opposition to Israel's plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank.
Meanwhile, the site Politico revealed last month that President Trump pledged to Arab leaders, during a meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, not to allow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to annex the West Bank.
Opinions within the Israeli government vary between those calling for full annexation of the occupied West Bank and those who believe that partial sovereignty is sufficient to ensure American recognition and avoid strong international backlash.
