أعلنت روسيا أن التحضيرات للقمة المرتقبة بين الرئيسين فلاديمير بوتين ودونالد ترمب متواصلة، رغم إعلان واشنطن إرجاء اللقاء إلى أجل غير مسمى.
وقال المتحدث باسم الكرملين دميتري بيسكوف، اليوم (الأربعاء): إن الرئيس الروسي ونظيره الأمريكي قررا عقد قمة بودابست لأن الوضع الحالي بشأن أوكرانيا يتطلب تدخلهما. وأضاف خلال إحاطة إعلامية، في سياق الأعمال التحضيرية لمؤتمر قمة بودابست: في الواقع، إن الجمود في عملية التسوية الذي ظهر يتطلب التدخل على أعلى مستوى، لكن هذا التدخل يجب التحضير له جيدا.
المجر تواصل الاستعداد
ونقلت وكالة «تاس» الروسية عن نائب وزير الخارجية سيرغي ريابكوف قوله «نؤكد أن التحضيرات للقمة متواصلة».
ونفى المبعوث الخاص للرئيس الروسي كيريل دميترييف صحة التقارير الإعلامية حول إلغاء القمة المرتقبة بين الرئيسين في بودابست. وأكد أن التحضيرات مستمرة للقاء المرتقب، متهما وسائل الإعلام بمحاولة تقويض القمة القادمة.
من جانبه، أعلن رئيس الوزراء المجري فيكتور أوربان أن السلطات المجرية تواصل التحضير لاجتماع الرئيس الروسي ونظيره الأمريكي في بودابست. وكتب أوربان في صفحته على موقع فيسبوك: «التحضيرات لقمة السلام مستمرة. لم يتم تحديد التاريخ بعد. عندما يحين الوقت، سنعلن ذلك».
إرجاء إلى أجل غير مسمى
وكان الرئيس ترمب أعلن، مساء الثلاثاء، أنه أرجأ إلى أجل غير مسمى اجتماعا كان مقررا أن يعقده مع نظيره الرئيس الروسي في بودابست خلال أسبوعين، عازيا سبب هذا التأجيل إلى عدم رغبته بإضاعة الوقت عبر إجراء مباحثات بلا جدوى.
وقال ترمب للصحافيين في البيت الأبيض لدى سؤاله عن سبب تأجيل اللقاء «لا أريد عقد اجتماع فارغ». وأضاف: «لا أريد إضاعة الوقت، لذا سأرى ما سيحدث».
وكان متحدث باسم الكرملين أفاد أن أمام موسكو وواشنطن مهمة شاقة قبل قمة بودابست بين الرئيسين الروسي والأمريكي. ووصف المتحدث باسم الرئاسة الروسية التقارير الإعلامية التي تحدثت عن إمكانية وصول الرئيسين الروسي والأمريكي إلى بودابست على متن طائرة واحدة بأنها «ضرب من الخيال»، مؤكدا أنه من السابق لأوانه الحديث عن مشاركة أي دولة من دول الاتحاد الأوروبي في القمة الروسية-الأمريكية في بودابست.
حل وسط جيد
بدوره، وصف الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي، الأربعاء، اقتراح الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بالتفاوض مع روسيا على أساس خط التماس الحالي بأنه حل وسط جيد، لكنه شكك في إمكان قبول الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين بهذا الطرح.
وقال للصحافيين خلال زيارة قصيرة لأوسلو: «اقترح الرئيس الأمريكي: ابقوا في أماكنكم وابدأوا الحوار. أعتقد أنه حل وسط جيد، لكنني لست متأكدا من أن بوتين يدعمه، وقد قلت ذلك للرئيس ترمب».
ويتوجه زيلينسكي إلى السويد، اليوم، وسط توقعات أن يعلن البلدان اتفاقا لتصدير أسلحة، على ما أفادت الحكومة السويدية في بيان.
Russia announced that preparations for the anticipated summit between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are ongoing, despite Washington's announcement to postpone the meeting indefinitely.
The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today (Wednesday) that the Russian president and his American counterpart decided to hold a summit in Budapest because the current situation regarding Ukraine requires their intervention. He added during a media briefing, in the context of the preparatory work for the Budapest summit: "In fact, the stalemate in the settlement process that has emerged requires intervention at the highest level, but this intervention must be well-prepared."
Hungary Continues Preparations
The Russian news agency "TASS" quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov as saying, "We confirm that preparations for the summit are ongoing."
The special envoy of the Russian president, Kirill Dmitriev, denied the media reports about the cancellation of the anticipated summit between the two presidents in Budapest. He confirmed that preparations for the expected meeting are continuing, accusing the media of trying to undermine the upcoming summit.
For his part, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced that the Hungarian authorities are continuing to prepare for the meeting between the Russian president and his American counterpart in Budapest. Orban wrote on his Facebook page: "Preparations for the peace summit are ongoing. The date has not yet been set. When the time comes, we will announce it."
Postponed Indefinitely
President Trump announced on Tuesday evening that he has postponed indefinitely a meeting that was scheduled to take place with his Russian counterpart in Budapest in two weeks, attributing the reason for this postponement to his unwillingness to waste time on futile discussions.
Trump told reporters at the White House when asked about the reason for postponing the meeting, "I don't want to have a meaningless meeting." He added: "I don't want to waste time, so I'll see what happens."
A Kremlin spokesman stated that Moscow and Washington have a tough task ahead of the Budapest summit between the Russian and American presidents. The spokesman for the Russian presidency described media reports suggesting that the Russian and American presidents might arrive in Budapest on the same plane as "a flight of fancy," emphasizing that it is too early to talk about the participation of any EU country in the Russian-American summit in Budapest.
A Good Compromise
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described on Wednesday the proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump to negotiate with Russia based on the current line of contact as a good compromise, but he expressed doubts about President Vladimir Putin's acceptance of this proposal.
He told reporters during a brief visit to Oslo: "The American president suggested: Stay in your places and start a dialogue. I think it's a good compromise, but I'm not sure that Putin supports it, and I told President Trump that."
Zelensky is heading to Sweden today, amid expectations that the two countries will announce an agreement for the export of weapons, as stated by the Swedish government in a statement.
