أعلن الجيش الباكستاني مقتل 23 من جنوده، و200 من الجانب الأفغاني خلال مواجهات عند الحدود بين البلدين.
وقال الجيش في بيان: «قُتل 23 جندياً باكستانياً خلال دفاعهم عن وحدة أراضي بلادنا ضد هذا الهجوم المشين»، مضيفاً: «قتلنا أكثر من 200 من عناصر طالبان وإرهابيين تابعين لهم في عمليات قصف وغارات وضربات دقيقة».
وكانت أفغانستان أعلنت الليلة الماضية أنها قتلت 58 جندياً باكستانياً في عمليات حدودية، رداً على ما وصفته بانتهاكات متكررة لأراضيها ومجالها الجوي.
واتهمت السلطات الأفغانية في وقت سابق باكستان بقصف العاصمة كابول وسوق في شرق البلاد. لكن إسلام آباد لم تعلن مسؤوليتها عن الهجوم.
ضحايا الاشتباكات
من جانبه، أفاد المتحدث باسم حكومة طالبان ذبيح الله مجاهد بأن قوات أفغانية سيطرت على 25 موقعاً تابعاً للجيش الباكستاني، وقتلت 58 جندياً، وأصابت 30 آخرين.
وأكد مجاهد خلال مؤتمر صحفي أن الوضع على جميع الحدود الرسمية والخطوط الفعلية لأفغانستان تحت السيطرة الكاملة، وتم منع الأنشطة غير القانونية بشكل كبير.
وقال مسؤول في إسلام آباد إن باكستان سيطرت على 19 موقعاً حدودياً أفغانياً، يتم منها شن الهجمات. وأضاف: «قُتل أو فر عناصر طالبان من تلك المواقع. وتم رصد حرائق ودمار واضح في المواقع الأفغانية التي تم الاستيلاء عليها».
عمليات انتقامية
وتتقاسم الدولتان حدوداً طولها 2611 كيلومتراً، تعرف باسم خط دوراند، لكن أفغانستان لم تعترف بها أبداً.
وكانت وزارة الدفاع التابعة لحكومة طالبان ذكرت الأحد أن قواتها أجرت «عمليات انتقامية وناجحة» على طول الحدود. وقالت: «إذا انتهك الجانب المقابل مرة أخرى سلامة أراضي أفغانستان، فإن قواتنا المسلحة مستعدة بشكل كامل للدفاع عن حدود البلاد وسترد بقوة».
The Pakistani army announced the death of 23 of its soldiers and 200 from the Afghan side during clashes at the border between the two countries.
The army stated in a statement: "23 Pakistani soldiers were killed while defending our country's territorial integrity against this disgraceful attack," adding: "We killed more than 200 Taliban members and affiliated terrorists in shelling, airstrikes, and precision strikes."
Afghanistan announced last night that it had killed 58 Pakistani soldiers in border operations, in response to what it described as repeated violations of its territory and airspace.
The Afghan authorities previously accused Pakistan of shelling the capital Kabul and a market in the east of the country. However, Islamabad did not claim responsibility for the attack.
Casualties of the Clashes
For his part, Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid reported that Afghan forces had seized 25 positions belonging to the Pakistani army, killing 58 soldiers and injuring 30 others.
Mujahid confirmed during a press conference that the situation along all official borders and the actual lines of Afghanistan is under complete control, and illegal activities have been largely prevented.
A Pakistani official stated that Pakistan had taken control of 19 Afghan border posts from which attacks were launched. He added: "Taliban elements were either killed or fled from those sites. Fires and clear destruction were observed at the Afghan sites that were seized."
Retaliatory Operations
The two countries share a border that is 2,611 kilometers long, known as the Durand Line, but Afghanistan has never recognized it.
The Taliban government's Ministry of Defense stated on Sunday that its forces conducted "retaliatory and successful operations" along the border. It said: "If the opposing side violates the territorial integrity of Afghanistan again, our armed forces are fully prepared to defend the country's borders and will respond forcefully."
