أكد متحدث باسم جو بايدن أن الرئيس الأمريكي السابق يتلقى علاجاً إشعاعياً بعد تشخيص إصابته بسرطان البروستاتا في مايو.
وأضاف المتحدث «في إطار خطة العلاج من سرطان البروستاتا، يخضع الرئيس بايدن حالياً للعلاج الإشعاعي والهرموني».
وخضع بايدن، الذي سيبلغ 83 عاماً الشهر القادم، لإجراء جراحي في سبتمبر لإزالة خلايا سرطانية من جلده.
وأعلن الرئيس السابق المنتمي للحزب الديمقراطي في مايو عن إصابته بسرطان البروستاتا النقيلي.
وقال فريقه الطبي إن المرض سريع الانتشار لكنه يتأثر بالهرمونات، ما يعني أنه قد يستجيب للعلاج.
A spokesperson for Joe Biden confirmed that the former American president is undergoing radiation treatment after being diagnosed with prostate cancer in May.
The spokesperson added, "As part of the treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently receiving radiation and hormone therapy."
Biden, who will turn 83 next month, underwent a surgical procedure in September to remove cancerous cells from his skin.
The former president, a member of the Democratic Party, announced in May that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer.
His medical team stated that the disease is fast-spreading but is hormone-sensitive, which means it may respond to treatment.
