المبعوث الأمريكي يناقش مع الشرع تنفيذ اتفاق 10 مارس

After hours of Defense Minister Merhaf Abu Qasra announcing the reaching of a "comprehensive agreement" for a ceasefire with the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, who arrived in Damascus, Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara discussed today (Tuesday) with the U.S. envoy to Syria, Thomas Barak, the mechanisms for implementing the "March 10" agreement between the Damascus government and the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The Syrian news agency "SANA" reported from a presidential statement that the meeting discussed the latest developments in the Syrian arena, ways to support the political process, and enhance security and stability, in addition to discussing the mechanisms for implementing the "March 10" agreement, which preserves the unity of Syrian territory and its sovereignty.

Agreement between SDF and the Syrian government

Minister of Defense Merhaf Abu Qasra had earlier confirmed today the agreement with SDF commander Mazloum Abdi for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in the north and east of the country.

Abu Qasra clarified that a comprehensive ceasefire was agreed upon across all fronts and military deployment points in northern and northeastern Syria, to take effect immediately.

The co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department in the Autonomous Administration, Ilham Ahmad, and the commander of the Women's Protection Units affiliated with the SDF, Rojhat Afrin, discussed the implementation of the terms of the "March 10" agreement, which Abdi signed with al-Shara earlier this year, stipulating the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the Syrian army.

Abdi's visit to Damascus

This visit marks Abdi's third trip to Damascus following the signing of the agreement, accompanied by the co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department, Ilham Ahmad, and the co-chairs of the Autonomous Administration delegation, Fawza Yusuf and Abdul Hamid al-Mahbash.

Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara and the commander of the SDF had signed an agreement on March 10 of last year, consisting of eight general points, primarily stipulating the integration of the SDF and its autonomous administration into the Syrian state institutions, along with a declaration for a ceasefire across all Syrian territory, which led to the cessation of clashes that erupted between the Syrian army and the SDF, lasting for more than two months around the Tishrin Dam.
