اغتال مسلحون مجهولون المرشح لعضوية مجلس الشعب السوري في محافظة طرطوس الدكتور حيدر يونس شاهين، إثر إطلاق نار عليه مساء (الثلاثاء) داخل منزله في قرية ميعار شاكر.
وذكر ناشطون سوريون أن الجاني نفذ جريمته بحق الأكاديمي في الهندسة الزراعية حيدر يونس شاهين وهرب، فيما قال المتحدث باسم وزارة الداخلية السورية نور الدين البابا بأن الجهات الأمنية تتعامل مع الجريمة وستصدر بيانها الرسمي فور الانتهاء من التحقيقات.
واتهم مصدر إعلامي حكومي في دمشق، فلول النظام السابق بقتل شاهين، مبينة أن شاهين كان قد تعرض لتهديد من قبل عناصر للنظام السابق نشروه ضد كل من يرشح نفسه لعضوية مجلس الشعب في الساحل السوري.
وكان رئيس اللجنة العليا لانتخابات مجلس الشعب السوري محمد طه الأحمد، أعلن أن عدد المرشحين بلغ 1578 مرشحاً، وشكّلت النساء ما نسبته 14% منهم، وقد تباينت نسبة الترشح النسائي بين محافظة وأخرى.
وقال الأحمد إن يوم الاقتراع سيكون في 5 أكتوبر القادم، سيبدأ من الساعة التاسعة صباحاً حتى يُغلق باب التصويت، وتبدأ عمليات فرز الأصوات اعتباراً من الساعة الرابعة مساءً.
Unknown gunmen assassinated the Syrian People's Assembly candidate in Tartus Governorate, Dr. Haidar Younes Shaheen, following gunfire at his home on Tuesday evening in the village of Mi'ar Shakir.
Syrian activists reported that the perpetrator carried out his crime against the agricultural engineering academic Haidar Younes Shaheen and fled, while the spokesperson for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Nour al-Din al-Baba, stated that the security authorities are addressing the crime and will issue an official statement once the investigations are complete.
A government media source in Damascus accused remnants of the former regime of killing Shaheen, indicating that Shaheen had previously received threats from elements of the former regime who targeted anyone running for membership in the People's Assembly in the Syrian coast.
The head of the Supreme Committee for the Syrian People's Assembly elections, Mohammad Taha al-Ahmad, announced that the number of candidates has reached 1,578, with women constituting 14% of them, and the percentage of female candidates varied from one governorate to another.
Al-Ahmad stated that the polling day will be on October 5, starting from 9 AM until the voting closes, and the counting of votes will begin at 4 PM.
