وزير الخارجية: آن الأوان لإيجاد حل عادل ودائم للقضية الفلسطينية

Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah delivered the speech of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Foreign Minister clarified at the beginning of his speech that the Kingdom takes pride in being a founding member of the United Nations and does everything in its power to translate the principles of the UN Charter into tangible reality by reinforcing respect for international law and promoting international peace and security, stemming from its deep belief in the importance of the organization's role. He emphasized the Kingdom's commitment to achieving the objectives of the Charter by contributing to humanitarian responses and extending a helping hand, noting that the assistance provided by the Kingdom has exceeded $141 billion, benefiting 174 countries.

He reaffirmed the Kingdom's steadfast position on the Palestinian issue, stating that the time has come to find a just and lasting solution to the issue. He stressed that dealing with it outside the frameworks of international law and legitimacy has led to the continuation of violence and the exacerbation of suffering. He said: "The international community's failure to take decisive action to stop Israeli aggressions and violations will only contribute to destabilizing security and stability regionally and globally, opening the door to serious repercussions, and escalating war crimes and acts of genocide."

The Kingdom's Efforts to Resolve the Palestinian Issue

He addressed the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue, noting that it has initiated cooperation with the Kingdom of Norway and the European Union to launch the international coalition to implement the two-state solution. The Kingdom co-chaired with the French Republic the international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, which constitutes a clear path leading to the end of occupation and conflict. He praised the countries that recognized the State of Palestine and the Palestinian Authority's direction to undertake significant reforms that deserve further support and empowerment from the international community.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized in his speech the necessity of adhering to the non-proliferation regime and the nuclear arms race in the region, the importance of protecting the security, navigation, and freedom of the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the straits, and combating terrorism and drying up its sources. He also warned of the dangers of military applications of artificial intelligence and autonomous weapons, stressing the need for international laws to regulate them.

Establishing Security and Stability

He praised the positive steps taken by the Syrian Arab Republic to establish security and stability. He reiterated the Kingdom's commitment to restoring security and stability in the Republic of Yemen and continuing its efforts to support the Yemeni economy and alleviate humanitarian suffering, as the Kingdom is the largest donor to the Republic of Yemen.

He also affirmed the Kingdom's commitment to the stability of Sudan and the unity and integrity of its territory, stressing the importance of continuing dialogue through the Jeddah platform. He confirmed the Kingdom's rejection of any steps outside the framework of state institutions that may affect Sudan's unity and do not reflect the will of its brotherly people. He also affirmed the Kingdom's support for a Libyan-Libyan solution in Libya that reinforces its unity and supports efforts to combat terrorism.

The Kingdom's Support for Lebanon

He expressed the Kingdom's support for Lebanon and its appreciation for the efforts of the Lebanese state to implement the Taif Agreement, establish state sovereignty, and confine arms to the Lebanese state and its legitimate institutions.

Empowering Youth and Women

In conclusion of the Kingdom's speech, the Foreign Minister referred to the long-term developmental path of the Kingdom under its Vision 2030, and the goals achieved in the past period in empowering youth and women, promoting values of tolerance, expanding avenues for international communication and cooperation, reducing unemployment, and increasing women's participation in the labor market. He also highlighted the pioneering initiatives to mitigate the effects of climate change and combat desertification and drought, such as the "Green Saudi Arabia" and "Green Middle East" initiatives, alongside the announcement of the establishment of the "Global Water Organization" headquartered in Riyadh, affirming the Kingdom's commitment to sustainable development and achieving a balance between development and climate, contributing to the protection of the global climate system.
