The Saudi project Masam for demining in Yemen has become a source of hope for many Yemeni families who have lost their right to life in their homes and have been displaced due to the mines planted by the enemies of humanity in houses, roads, mountains, farms, and even in children's toys.
Masam has successfully removed more than (515,219) mines and unexploded ordnance in Yemen, and has managed to clear 70,595,567 square meters of Yemeni land, which has helped prevent humanitarian disasters that could have claimed the lives of hundreds of Yemenis in various cities, rural areas, and mountains.
Masam is considered one of the prominent Saudi humanitarian projects that has played a strong role in protecting the lives of Yemenis and has contributed to enhancing stability and development in several liberated governorates. The Yemeni people continue to place great hopes on it to remove more mines that threaten their lives, and they urge international organizations to follow the lead of Saudi Arabia, which has saved thousands of families, and to establish similar large humanitarian projects that benefit the Yemeni people with goodness, growth, prosperity, and the normalization of life and reconstruction.
The Masam project has extended to various regions, districts, and rural areas in Yemen, including fishermen who have lost their profession at sea due to mines, leaving their families to suffer from hunger and crises for years.
The project has not only focused on removing, dismantling, and destroying mines but has also taken on the educational and awareness-raising role, targeting all segments of Yemeni society to raise awareness about the dangers of mines and explosive devices, and explaining what should be done in case of suspicion of the presence of a mine or explosive device in any location. The project has also implemented numerous training courses and educational activities aimed at school and university students, and a phone number has been designated to receive reports in case of suspicion of the presence of a strange object. The General Director of the Masam project, Osama Al-Qusaibi, confirmed that the Masam project operates under the umbrella of the Saudi government represented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and works in coordination with the Yemeni government on all humanitarian and developmental projects.
