في حين أعلنت وزارة الداخلية السورية القبض على حسن مرعي حسن الحسين، متورط في تعذيب المدنيين في سجن صيدنايا ـ سيّئ السمعة، عثرت قوى الأمن الداخلي السورية اليوم (الأربعاء) على سجن تحت الأرض في منطقة زراعية قرب قرية أبوحكفة بريف حمص الشمالي الشرقي، كان يستخدم خلال فترة نظام بشار الأسد لاحتجاز المدنيين.
ونقلت وكالة الأنباء السورية (سانا)، عن المسؤول الأمني في ريف حمص الشرقي مروان السلطان قوله إن الموقع المكتشف أشبه بمغارة تحت الأرض غير صالحة للعيش، وكان يُستغل لخطف النساء والرجال والأطفال لتحقيق مكاسب مالية وسياسية، مبيناً أن عمليات تمشيط المنطقة مستمرة، وسط توقعات بالعثور على مقابر جماعية إضافية، متوعداً بملاحقة جميع المتورطين في هذه الجرائم قانونياً.
مغارة لتعذيب السوريين
وذكر أحد أهالي قرية أبوحكفة فواز بلول أن الأرض الزراعية التي اكتشف فيها السجن تعود لأحد عناصر الدفاع الوطني، مشيراً إلى أن المغارة بمدخلها باب حديدي وأقفال، كانت تُستخدم للتعذيب واحتجاز المدنيين مقابل دفع فدى مالية.
ولفت إلى أن المنطقة شهدت حالات خطف متكررة على يد المليشيات إبان حكم الرئيس السابق بشار الأسد، مبيناً أنه شخصياً كان ضحية إحدى هذه الحوادث.
وتتواصل الجهود في القرية للبحث عن أدلة إضافية قد تكشف حجم الانتهاكات التي تعرّض لها المدنيون خلال تلك الفترة.
من جهة أخرى، أعلنت وزارة الداخلية السورية، اليوم، القبض على حسن مرعي حسن الحسين، موضحة أن قيادة الأمن الداخلي في محافظة حلب، بالتعاون مع فرع مكافحة الإرهاب، نفّذت عملية أمنيّة أسفرت عن اعتقال الحسين.
السجن الأحمر
وأشارت إلى أن التحقيقات أكدت أن الحسين بدأ عمله ضمن سرية الحراسة الخاصة بالسجن، قبل أن يُعيّن سجّاناً في ما يُعرف بـ«السجن الأحمر» في صيدنايا، وارتكب أعمال تعذيب جسدي للمعتقلين، وشارك في تنفيذ إعدامات ميدانية، وتولّى نقل جثث بعض الضحايا الذين قضوا تحت التعذيب ورميها في أماكن مجهولة.
وأكدت الوزارة أن الحسين أُحيل إلى القضاء المختص لاتخاذ جميع الإجراءات القانونية بحقه.
وكانت السلطات السورية قد أعلنت في أواخر أغسطس الماضي القبض على عدد من السجّانين السابقين في سجن صيدنايا، المتورطين في ارتكاب جرائم وانتهاكات جسيمة بحق المعتقلين.
While the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of Hassan Marai Hassan Al-Hussein, involved in the torture of civilians at the notorious Saydnaya prison, Syrian internal security forces today (Wednesday) discovered an underground prison in an agricultural area near the village of Abu Hakfa in the northeastern countryside of Homs, which was used during the regime of Bashar Al-Assad to detain civilians.
The Syrian news agency (SANA) reported that the security official in the eastern countryside of Homs, Marwan Sultan, stated that the discovered site resembles an underground cave unfit for living, and was exploited for the kidnapping of women, men, and children for financial and political gains, indicating that operations to comb the area are ongoing, with expectations of finding additional mass graves, vowing to pursue all those involved in these crimes legally.
A Cave for Torturing Syrians
One of the residents of Abu Hakfa, Fawaz Balloul, mentioned that the agricultural land where the prison was discovered belongs to a member of the National Defense Forces, pointing out that the cave has an iron door and locks at its entrance, and was used for torture and the detention of civilians in exchange for financial ransoms.
He noted that the area witnessed repeated kidnapping incidents at the hands of militias during the rule of former President Bashar Al-Assad, indicating that he personally was a victim of one of these incidents.
Efforts continue in the village to search for additional evidence that may reveal the extent of the violations that civilians were subjected to during that period.
On the other hand, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced today the arrest of Hassan Marai Hassan Al-Hussein, explaining that the internal security leadership in Aleppo province, in cooperation with the Anti-Terrorism Branch, carried out a security operation that resulted in the arrest of Al-Hussein.
The Red Prison
It indicated that investigations confirmed that Al-Hussein began his work within the special guard unit of the prison, before being appointed as a jailer in what is known as the "Red Prison" in Saydnaya, where he committed acts of physical torture against detainees, participated in executing field executions, and was responsible for transporting the bodies of some victims who died under torture and dumping them in unknown locations.
The ministry confirmed that Al-Hussein has been referred to the competent judiciary to take all legal measures against him.
Syrian authorities had announced in late August that they had arrested several former jailers at Saydnaya prison, involved in committing crimes and serious violations against detainees.
