طالبت أكثر من 45 منظمة إنسانية المجتمع الدولي إلى تحرّك عاجل لمواجهة الأزمة الإنسانية المتفاقمة في اليمن ومنع ملايين الأشخاص من الانزلاق إلى المجاعة، مؤكدةً في بيان مشترك تزامناً مع انعقاد الدورة الـ80 للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، أن اليمن بحاجة إلى تحركات عاجلة لمواجهة الأزمة الإنسانية المتفاقمة في اليمن، التي تهدّد بدفع ملايين الأسر إلى حافة الكارثة.
وقال البيان أن الأزمة الإنسانية في اليمن جرّدت الناس من أبسط مقومات الحياة، وجعلت من كل يوم صراعاً من أجل البقاء، مشدداً على أن اتخاذ خطوات عاجلة ومنسقة في الدورة الـ80 للجمعية العامة أمر بالغ الأهمية؛ لإنقاذ الأرواح ومنع كارثة إنسانية أعمق.
سوء التغذية
وشدّدت المنظمات بينها «أوكسفام»، «كير»، «المجلس النرويجي للاجئين»، «إنقاذ الطفولة»، و«إنترسوس»، أن أكثر من 17 مليون شخص يواجهون خطر الجوع في اليمن، بينهم ما لا يقل عن 41 ألفاً مهددون بمستويات كارثية من الجوع.
وأشارت إلى أن ما لا يقل عن 2.4 مليون طفل دون الخامسة يعانون من سوء التغذية الحاد، بمن فيهم مئات الآلاف المعّرضون لسوء التغذية الحاد الوخيم، وهي حالة مهددة للحياة إذا لم يتم تدارك الأمر بتدخل فوري.
وأشار البيان إلى أن هذه الإحصاءات ليست ثابتة، ومن المتوقع أن تزداد معدلات الجوع وسوء التغذية بشكل حاد خلال الأشهر القادمة مع استمرار خفض المساعدات وتفشي الأمراض، وتفاقم التدهور الاقتصادي الذي يضعف قدرة الأسر على الصمود.
اختطافات حوثية
وأشار البيان في تحذيراته إلى أنه دون تحرك عاجل خلال ما تبقى من عام 2025، قد تواجه المناطق الأشد هشاشة في اليمن خطر الانزلاق إلى المجاعة، مبيناً أن الآثار المدمرة للفيضانات الأخيرة، والانعكاسات السلبية للتوترات الإقليمية على اليمن، إضافة إلى الاعتقالات الحوثية «التعسفية» بحق موظفي الأمم المتحدة والعاملين الإنسانيين المستمرة منذ أكثر من عام، كلها عوامل تزيد من حدة الأزمة الإنسانية، وتعيق وصول المساعدات المنقذة للحياة لمن هم في أمس الحاجة إليها، ما يؤدي إلى زيادة مخاطر تفاقم الجوع في البلاد.
توفير تمويلات
ودعت المنظمات الجهات المانحة إلى سرعة توفير التمويلات الكافية من أجل ضمان استمرار تقديم الغذاء والمياه والرعاية الصحية والحماية والمأوى والمساعدات النقدية لأكبر عدد من المتضررين بالأزمة، مشددة بالقول: «لقد وصل اليمن إلى مرحلة حرجة.. وشعبه لم يعد يحتمل المزيد من المعاناة الآن هو الوقت المناسب للتحرك من أجل مساندته على التعافي وإعادة بناء حياته».
وطالبت الدول الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة بالضغط من أجل الإفراج الفوري عن العاملين الإنسانيين المعتقلين، وضمان حرية حركة الموظفين والإمدادات الإنسانية دون عوائق، ومواصلة الجهود الدبلوماسية لدعم عملية السلام، وعدم تهميش الأزمة اليمنية وسط تزاحم الأجندات الإقليمية والدولية.
More than 45 humanitarian organizations have called on the international community to take urgent action to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Yemen and prevent millions of people from slipping into famine. In a joint statement coinciding with the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, they emphasized that Yemen needs urgent actions to confront the worsening humanitarian crisis, which threatens to push millions of families to the brink of disaster.
The statement noted that the humanitarian crisis in Yemen has stripped people of the most basic necessities of life, making every day a struggle for survival. It stressed that taking urgent and coordinated steps during the 80th session of the General Assembly is crucial to save lives and prevent a deeper humanitarian catastrophe.
Malnutrition
The organizations, including Oxfam, CARE, the Norwegian Refugee Council, Save the Children, and Intersos, emphasized that more than 17 million people are facing the risk of hunger in Yemen, including at least 41,000 threatened with catastrophic levels of hunger.
They pointed out that at least 2.4 million children under the age of five are suffering from acute malnutrition, including hundreds of thousands at risk of severe acute malnutrition, a life-threatening condition if not addressed with immediate intervention.
The statement indicated that these statistics are not static, and hunger and malnutrition rates are expected to rise sharply in the coming months as aid continues to decline, diseases spread, and the economic deterioration weakens families' ability to cope.
Houthi Abductions
The statement warned that without urgent action during the remainder of 2025, the most vulnerable areas in Yemen could face the risk of slipping into famine. It highlighted that the devastating effects of recent floods, the negative repercussions of regional tensions on Yemen, and the ongoing "arbitrary" arrests by the Houthis of UN staff and humanitarian workers for more than a year are all factors exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and hindering the delivery of life-saving aid to those in dire need, leading to increased risks of worsening hunger in the country.
Providing Funding
The organizations urged donors to quickly provide sufficient funding to ensure the continued provision of food, water, healthcare, protection, shelter, and cash assistance to the largest number of those affected by the crisis. They stressed, saying: "Yemen has reached a critical stage... and its people can no longer endure more suffering; now is the time to act to support them in recovering and rebuilding their lives."
They called on UN member states to pressure for the immediate release of detained humanitarian workers, ensure the unhindered movement of staff and humanitarian supplies, and continue diplomatic efforts to support the peace process, without sidelining the Yemeni crisis amid competing regional and international agendas.
