في خطوة تعزز التحالف الناتوي أمام التوترات الجيوسياسية المتزايدة، أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية موافقتها على بيع 2506 صواريخ «جافلين» مضاد للدبابات من طراز FGM-148F، و253 وحدة إطلاق خفيفة، لبولندا بقيمة تقدر بنحو 780 مليون دولار.
جاء الإعلان الرسمي يوم الخميس، من وكالة التعاون الأمني الدفاعي الأمريكية، التي وصفت الصفقة بأنها «ستعزز قدرة بولندا على مواجهة التهديدات الحالية والمستقبلية، وتحمي أراضيها السيادية، وتلبي متطلبات الناتو».
وتشمل الصفقة، المقدمة عبر برنامج المبيعات العسكرية الأجنبية، معدات دعم لوجستية، قطع غيار، تدريبات، ومساعدة فنية، مع الشركتين الأمريكيتين RTX ولوكهيد مارتن كالمقاولين الرئيسيين.
تعزيز دفاعات بولندا
ووفقاً لوكالة التعاون الأمني الدفاعي الأمريكية، سيساعد ذلك في ترقية وحدات الإطلاق الحالية وتوسيع مخزون الدفاع لبولندا، التي أصبحت خط الدفاع الأول للناتو في شرق أوروبا، وأكدت الوكالة أن الصفقة «لن تؤثر سلباً على أمن الولايات المتحدة أو حلفائها».
وبدأت بولندا في تعزيز ترسانتها من «جافلين» منذ عام 2021، حيث تم تسليم الدفعة الأولى في الربيع، ومن المتوقع إكمالها بحلول نهاية 2026، وحالياً، تعتمد وحدات الدفاع الترابي البولندية، بما في ذلك قوات الاحتياط، على هذه الصواريخ الفعالة في مواجهة الدبابات الثقيلة، خصوصاً في ظل التهديدات الروسية المتزايدة.

ما هي صواريخ جافلين
وتعتبر صواريخ «جافلين»، التي طُوِّرَتْ في التسعينيات من قبل لوكهيد مارتن ورايثيون، هي أحد أبرز الأسلحة المضادة للدبابات في العالم، حيث تعتمد تقنية «إطلاق ونسيان» التي تسمح للصاروخ بتوجيه نفسه تلقائياً نحو الهدف بمدى يصل إلى 2.5 كيلومتر، مع قدرة على اختراق الدروع الثقيلة.
وأثبتت الصواريخ فعاليتها في الحرب الأوكرانية منذ 2022، حيث أرسلت الولايات المتحدة آلاف الصواريخ لمساعدة كييف في صد الجيش الروسي، ما أدى إلى تدمير مئات الدبابات الروسية، أما بولندا، العضو في الناتو منذ 1999، فقد شهدت زيادة هائلة في الإنفاق العسكري منذ غزو روسيا لأوكرانيا في فبراير 2022، حيث رفعت ميزانيتها إلى أكثر من 4% من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي، متجاوزة الحد الأدنى للحلف (2%).
مخاوف واسعة في الناتو
ويأتي هذا التحرك وسط مخاوف من توسع التهديد الروسي، خصوصاً مع التصريحات المتكررة من موسكو حول «التهديدات الناتوية» والتمارين العسكرية الروسية البيلاروسية قرب الحدود البولندية، وحتى الآن، حصلت بولندا على نحو 680 صاروخ جافلين سابقاً، بالإضافة إلى 60 وحدة إطلاق CLU و50 LwCLU، ما يجعل هذه الصفقة الجديدة امتداداً طبيعياً لجهود التعزيز.

In a move that strengthens the NATO alliance in the face of increasing geopolitical tensions, the U.S. Department of State announced its approval for the sale of 2,506 FGM-148F Javelin anti-tank missiles and 253 light launch units to Poland, valued at approximately $780 million.
The official announcement came on Thursday from the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which described the deal as one that "will enhance Poland's ability to address current and future threats, protect its sovereign territory, and meet NATO requirements."
The deal, presented through the Foreign Military Sales program, includes logistical support equipment, spare parts, training, and technical assistance, with American companies RTX and Lockheed Martin as the prime contractors.
Enhancing Poland's Defenses
According to the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency, this will help upgrade existing launch units and expand Poland's defense stockpile, which has become NATO's first line of defense in Eastern Europe. The agency confirmed that the deal "will not adversely affect the security of the United States or its allies."
Poland has been enhancing its Javelin arsenal since 2021, with the first batch delivered in the spring and expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Currently, Polish ground defense units, including reserve forces, rely on these effective missiles to counter heavy tanks, especially given the increasing Russian threats.
In a related context, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak announced today a cooperation agreement with Kyiv to train Polish soldiers in defense against drones, reflecting the close coordination between Warsaw and Ukraine.
What are Javelin Missiles?
The Javelin missiles, developed in the 1990s by Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, are among the most prominent anti-tank weapons in the world, utilizing "fire-and-forget" technology that allows the missile to autonomously guide itself to the target at a range of up to 2.5 kilometers, with the capability to penetrate heavy armor.
The missiles have proven effective in the Ukrainian war since 2022, with the United States sending thousands of missiles to assist Kyiv in repelling the Russian army, resulting in the destruction of hundreds of Russian tanks. Poland, a NATO member since 1999, has seen a massive increase in military spending since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, raising its budget to over 4% of GDP, surpassing the alliance's minimum (2%).
Widespread Concerns in NATO
This move comes amid concerns over the expansion of the Russian threat, especially with repeated statements from Moscow regarding "NATO threats" and Russian-Belarusian military exercises near the Polish border. So far, Poland has received about 680 Javelin missiles previously, in addition to 60 CLU launch units and 50 LwCLU, making this new deal a natural extension of its reinforcement efforts.
Internationally, this decision is seen as part of the United States' strategy to support Eastern Europe, having approved other arms deals for Poland, including F-35 aircraft and Abrams tanks. However, the escalation raises concerns about a new arms race in the region, especially with the upcoming U.S. elections that could impact foreign policy.
