تحتضن العاصمة السعودية الرياض اليوم (الثلاثاء) أعمال مؤتمر شراكة الأمن البحري اليمني (YMSP) الذي تنظمه المملكة العربية السعودية والمملكة المتحدة بالتعاون مع الحكومة اليمنية، بمشاركة 40 دولة، في خطوة تهدف إلى تعزيز الأمن البحري في طرق التجارة العالمية.
تدشين الأمانة العامة المشتركة
يهدف المؤتمر إلى جمع تعهدات مالية من الدول لإعادة بناء القدرات الأمنية البحرية المدنية في اليمن، وسيشهد الإعلان عن الأمانة العامة المشتركة لأمن الملاحة البحرية في اليمن، وهي مبادرة إستراتيجية تسعى إلى مكافحة التهريب والقرصنة والاتجار بالبشر، وتعزيز قدرة اليمن على حماية سواحله وممراته البحرية الحيوية.
خطة تمتد لعشر سنوات
ويناقش المؤتمر إستراتيجية طويلة الأمد تمتد لعقد كامل، لإعادة بناء وتطوير قدرات خفر السواحل اليمني، بما يرفع من مساهمة اليمن في تأمين مسارات التجارة الدولية وضمان سلامة الملاحة في البحر الأحمر وخليج عدن.
إشادة دولية بدور الرياض ولندن
أكد نائب الممثل الدائم للمملكة المتحدة لدى الأمم المتحدة السفير جيمس كاريوكي أن الشراكة البحرية اليمنية تعد آلية أساسية للتعاون الدولي. كما أعرب عن فخر بلاده بتنظيم المؤتمر مع السعودية، مثمناً انضمام شركاء دوليين لدعم هذه المبادرة.
موقف يمني داعم
من جانبه، ذهب رئيس مجلس القيادة الرئاسي اليمني الدكتور رشاد محمد العليمي إلى أن بلاده ترى في المؤتمر تدشيناً لشراكة نوعية تعزز أمن الممرات المائية، وتجديداً لالتزام الحكومة اليمنية بحماية مصالح الشعب اليمني وأمنه القومي، معبّراً عن تقديره للدور المحوري الذي تلعبه السعودية والمملكة المتحدة في رعاية هذه الجهود.
The Saudi capital, Riyadh, is hosting today (Tuesday) the activities of the Yemeni Maritime Security Partnership (YMSP) conference, organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom in collaboration with the Yemeni government, with the participation of 40 countries, in a move aimed at enhancing maritime security in global trade routes.
Launch of the Joint General Secretariat
The conference aims to gather financial commitments from countries to rebuild civil maritime security capabilities in Yemen, and it will witness the announcement of the Joint General Secretariat for Maritime Navigation Security in Yemen, a strategic initiative that seeks to combat smuggling, piracy, and human trafficking, and to enhance Yemen's ability to protect its coasts and vital maritime routes.
A Ten-Year Plan
The conference discusses a long-term strategy extending over a full decade to rebuild and develop the capabilities of the Yemeni Coast Guard, thereby increasing Yemen's contribution to securing international trade routes and ensuring the safety of navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
International Praise for the Role of Riyadh and London
The Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations, Ambassador James Kariuki, confirmed that the Yemeni maritime partnership is a key mechanism for international cooperation. He also expressed his country's pride in organizing the conference with Saudi Arabia, appreciating the participation of international partners in supporting this initiative.
Supportive Yemeni Stance
For his part, the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, stated that his country views the conference as the launch of a qualitative partnership that enhances the security of waterways and renews the Yemeni government's commitment to protecting the interests and national security of the Yemeni people, expressing his appreciation for the pivotal role played by Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom in sponsoring these efforts.
