أصدرت محكمة تركية في إسطنبول، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، حكما بعزل رئيس فرع «حزب الشعب الجمهوري»، حزب المعارضة الرئيسي في تركيا، بعد إدانته بارتكاب مخالفات تتعلق بالتلاعب في انتخابات المؤتمر العام للحزب في إسطنبول 2023.
واعتبر الحكم، الذي أبطل نتائج المؤتمر وأمر بعزل الأعضاء المنتخبين، بمثابة ضربة جديدة للمعارضة التركية التي تواجه تحديات متزايدة في مواجهة حزب العدالة والتنمية الحاكم بقيادة الرئيس رجب طيب أردوغان.
وأفادت المحكمة أن أصوات المندوبين في مؤتمر الحزب تم التأثير عليها من خلال مدفوعات نقدية، ما أثار اتهامات بالفساد الانتخابي، وقررت المحكمة إلغاء نتائج المؤتمر رئيس فرع حزب الشعب الجمهوري في إسطنبول، أحد الشخصيات البارزة في المعارضة، الذي لعب دورا محوريا في فوز إمام أوغلو بمنصب عمدة إسطنبول في انتخابات 2019.
وينظر حزب الشعب الجمهوري إلى الحكم الأخير على أنه جزء من حملة مستمرة لتقويض نفوذ المعارضة قبل الانتخابات العامة القادمة، وردّ على الحكم ببيان رسمي وصفه بأنه «سياسي بحت»، مؤكدا أن القرار يهدف إلى إضعاف الحزب في إسطنبول، وهي مركز الثقل السياسي والاقتصادي في تركيا.
وشغل نائب رئيس «حزب الشعب الجمهوري» السابق، غورسل تكين، منصب رئيس فرع الحزب في إسطنبول مؤقتا بقرار من المحكمة التي أثر حكمها على الأسهم التركية، إلا أنه ربما تكون لقرار محكمة إسطنبول تداعيات على دعوى قضائية أخرى في أنقرة، حيث يمكن أن يطيح رئيس فرع الحزب هناك أوزغور أوزال.
ويعتبر حزب الشعب الجمهوري بقيادة أوزغور أوزيل منذ نوفمبر 2023، الحزب الرئيسي للمعارضة في تركيا، ويتبنى رؤية علمانية واجتماعية ديمقراطية، وتأسس على يد مصطفى كمال أتاتورك عام 1923، وحقق الحزب نجاحات بارزة في الانتخابات البلدية 2019، إذ فاز بإدارة مدن رئيسية مثل إسطنبول وأنقرة، ما شكل ضربة لحزب العدالة والتنمية الحاكم، ومع ذلك، يواجه تحديات قانونية وسياسية مستمرة.
A Turkish court in Istanbul issued a ruling today (Tuesday) to dismiss the head of the Istanbul branch of the "Republican People's Party," the main opposition party in Turkey, after he was convicted of committing violations related to manipulating the results of the party's general conference elections in Istanbul 2023.
The ruling, which annulled the conference results and ordered the dismissal of the elected members, is considered a new blow to the Turkish opposition, which faces increasing challenges against the ruling Justice and Development Party led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The court reported that the votes of the delegates at the party conference were influenced through cash payments, raising allegations of electoral corruption. The court decided to annul the conference results of the head of the Republican People's Party in Istanbul, a prominent opposition figure who played a pivotal role in Ekrem İmamoğlu's victory as mayor of Istanbul in the 2019 elections.
The Republican People's Party views the recent ruling as part of an ongoing campaign to undermine the opposition's influence ahead of the upcoming general elections. It responded to the ruling with an official statement describing it as "purely political," emphasizing that the decision aims to weaken the party in Istanbul, which is the political and economic center of gravity in Turkey.
The former deputy head of the "Republican People's Party," Gursel Tekin, temporarily assumed the position of head of the party branch in Istanbul by court order, which affected Turkish stocks. However, the Istanbul court's decision may have implications for another lawsuit in Ankara, where the head of the party branch there, Ozgur Ozal, could be ousted.
The Republican People's Party, led by Ozgur Ozel since November 2023, is the main opposition party in Turkey, adopting a secular and social democratic vision. It was founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1923 and achieved significant successes in the 2019 municipal elections, winning control of major cities like Istanbul and Ankara, which dealt a blow to the ruling Justice and Development Party. Nevertheless, it continues to face ongoing legal and political challenges.
