أحبط جهاز مكافحة الإرهاب في اليمن، اليوم (السبت)، محاولة تهريب شحنة كوكايين تزن نحو 599 كيلوغراماً، كانت في طريقها عبر ميناء عدن إلى مناطق الحوثي، وبحسب بيان الجهاز، فإن الكمية كانت مخبأة داخل أكياس سكر وصلت من ميناء برازيلي إلى عدن.
وقال الجهاز في بيان على حسابه في «فيسبوك»، اليوم، إن قواته وبالتنسيق المباشر مع النيابة الجزائية المتخصصة، تمكّنت من ضبط شحنة ضخمة من مادة الكوكايين المخدرة تُقدّر بـ599 كيلوغراماً، كانت مخفية بعناية فائقة داخل أكياس سكر في مخزن تابع لأحد التجار، بعد وصولها من ميناء البرازيل إلى عدن، مبيناً أن الكمية كانت في طريقها إلى مناطق خاضعة لسيطرة الحوثيين.
وأوضح البيان أن العملية جاءت بعد تلقي الجهاز بلاغاً استخباراتياً عصر الخميس، يُفيد بوجود شحنة مشبوهة داخل حاوية سكر. وعلى الفور، تحرّكت فرق متخصصة من الجهاز إلى موقع البلاغ برفقة وكيل النيابة الجزائية المتخصصة، وتم تنفيذ خطة تفتيش ميدانية محكمة.
وأشار إلى أن الفريق المتخصص بالجهاز عثر على أكياس بلاستيكية مغلّفة بعوازل وورق كربون، أُخفيت داخل أكياس السكر بهدف تضليل أجهزة الكشف، وبعد معاينة النيابة، تم تحريز الشحنة رسمياً وفق الإجراءات القانونية.
وأضاف البيان أن الأجهزة الأمنية اليمنية تواصل التحقيقات لكشف هوية بقية الشبكات المتورطة في عملية التهريب، مؤكداً على لسان قائد الجهاز اللواء شلال شائع أن التحقيقات الأولية أظهرت ارتباط هذه الشحنة بشبكات تهريب دولية تعمل بالتنسيق مع الحوثيين وجهات خارجية داعمة لهم، تستخدم المخدرات كأحد مصادر تمويل التنظيمات الإرهابية في البلاد.
وأوضح شائع أن شحنتين مماثلتين تم ضبطهما في وقت سابق، قادمتين من ميناء البرازيل وبالأسلوب نفسه، في 26 أكتوبر 2020 و21 ديسمبر 2021، مشيراً إلى أن عملية الخميس الماضي هي الثالثة من نوعها ضمن الجهود المستمرة لتعقّب تلك الشبكات.
وتعهّد الجهاز بإتلاف الشحنة رسمياً عقب استكمال التحقيقات، مشدداً على استمرار عملياته لتعقّب شبكات التهريب وتجفيف مصادر تمويل الحوثيين عبر تجارة المخدرات.
في الوقت ذاته، استعرض قائد الجهاز اللواء شلال شائع، مع ممثلين من الأمم المتحدة المعتمدين لدى اليمن، تفاصيل عملية ضبط شحنة المخدرات والمضبوطات، وأساليب تهريبها، والجهات المتورطة فيها.
The Counter-Terrorism Unit in Yemen thwarted an attempt to smuggle a cocaine shipment weighing about 599 kilograms today (Saturday), which was on its way through the port of Aden to Houthi-controlled areas. According to the unit's statement, the quantity was hidden inside sugar bags that arrived from a Brazilian port to Aden.
The unit stated in a statement on its Facebook account today that its forces, in direct coordination with the specialized prosecution, managed to seize a massive shipment of cocaine estimated at 599 kilograms, which was carefully concealed inside sugar bags in a warehouse belonging to one of the traders, after arriving from Brazil to Aden, indicating that the quantity was on its way to areas under Houthi control.
The statement clarified that the operation came after the unit received an intelligence report on Thursday afternoon, indicating the presence of a suspicious shipment inside a sugar container. Immediately, specialized teams from the unit moved to the site of the report accompanied by the specialized prosecution agent, and a thorough field inspection plan was implemented.
It was noted that the specialized team found plastic bags wrapped in insulation and carbon paper, hidden inside the sugar bags to mislead detection devices. After inspection by the prosecution, the shipment was officially seized according to legal procedures.
The statement added that Yemeni security agencies continue investigations to uncover the identities of the other networks involved in the smuggling operation, emphasizing, according to the unit's leader, Major General Shalal Shaei, that initial investigations revealed a connection between this shipment and international smuggling networks operating in coordination with the Houthis and external supportive entities, using drugs as one of the funding sources for terrorist organizations in the country.
Shaei explained that two similar shipments were seized earlier, coming from Brazil in the same manner, on October 26, 2020, and December 21, 2021, noting that last Thursday's operation is the third of its kind in ongoing efforts to track those networks.
The unit pledged to officially destroy the shipment after completing the investigations, stressing the continuation of its operations to track smuggling networks and dry up the funding sources for the Houthis through drug trafficking.
At the same time, the unit's leader, Major General Shalal Shaei, reviewed with representatives from the United Nations accredited to Yemen the details of the drug shipment seizure operation, the confiscated items, the smuggling methods, and the involved parties.
