حذر تحالف دولي يضم 26 دولة اليوم (الخميس) سلطات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي من استهداف الصحفيين المتعمد، مطالباً بالسماح لوسائل الإعلام الأجنبية بدخول غزة، وحماية الصحفيين في قطاع غزة، والوقف الفوري لإطلاق النار.
وقال تحالف حرية الإعلام في بيان مشترك نشرته وزارة الخارجية البريطانية اليوم: «الصحفيون والإعلاميون يضطلعون بدور أساسي في تسليط الضوء على الواقع المدمر الذي تخلّفه الحرب، والدخول إلى مناطق الصراع ضروري لأداء هذا الدور بفعالية، ونحن نعارض كل محاولات تقييد حرية الصحافة ومنع دخول الصحفيين في أوقات الصراع»، مضيفاً: «ندين بشدة كل أعمال العنف الموجهة ضد الصحفيين والإعلاميين، ولاسيما العدد الهائل من الضحايا من بينهم، وحالات القبض عليهم واعتقالهم».
وطالب التحالف، الذي يضم بلداناً بينها بريطانيا وإيطاليا والدنمارك وبلجيكا وأستراليا والسويد، الاحتلال الإسرائيلي وكل الأطراف الأخرى ببذل كل جهد لضمان أن يتمكّن الإعلاميون في غزة وإسرائيل والضفة الغربية والقدس الشرقية - المحليون والأجانب على حد سواء - من أداء عملهم بحرية وأمان.
وأشار إلى أن الاستهداف المتعمَّد للصحفيين غير مقبول، والقانون الدولي الإنساني يمنح الحماية للصحفيين المدنيين خلال الصراع المسلح، داعياً إلى التحقيق في كل الاعتداءات ضد الإعلاميين ومحاسبة المسؤولين عنها، امتثالاً للقانون الوطني والقانون الدولي.
ودعا التحالف إلى وقف فوري لإطلاق النار، والإفراج غير المشروط عن باقي الرهائن، وتدفق المساعدات الإنسانية دون عوائق، وإلى مسار نحو حل الدولتين.
An international coalition of 26 countries warned today (Thursday) the Israeli occupation authorities against the deliberate targeting of journalists, demanding that foreign media be allowed to enter Gaza, that journalists in the Gaza Strip be protected, and that an immediate ceasefire be implemented.
The Media Freedom Coalition stated in a joint statement published by the British Foreign Office today: “Journalists and media professionals play a crucial role in highlighting the devastating reality left by war, and access to conflict areas is essential for effectively performing this role. We oppose all attempts to restrict press freedom and prevent journalists from entering conflict zones,” adding: “We strongly condemn all acts of violence directed against journalists and media professionals, particularly the large number of casualties among them, as well as instances of their arrest and detention.”
The coalition, which includes countries such as Britain, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, Australia, and Sweden, called on the Israeli occupation and all other parties to make every effort to ensure that journalists in Gaza, Israel, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem—both local and foreign—can perform their work freely and safely.
It noted that the deliberate targeting of journalists is unacceptable, and international humanitarian law provides protection for civilian journalists during armed conflict, calling for an investigation into all assaults against media professionals and holding those responsible accountable, in accordance with national and international law.
The coalition called for an immediate ceasefire, the unconditional release of the remaining hostages, unhindered flow of humanitarian aid, and a pathway towards a two-state solution.
