Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa revealed the formation of a temporary committee to manage the Gaza Strip soon. He stated during a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty in front of the Rafah crossing today (Monday): “We are not creating a new political entity in Gaza, but rather reactivating the work of institutions,” emphasizing that the Palestine Liberation Organization is the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.

He spoke about efforts to reactivate the work of Palestinian Authority institutions and its government in Gaza, confirming that managing the sector is not a gain or a desire for power or governance, but a significant responsibility to thwart displacement plans.

The Prime Minister described the Egyptian role regarding the Palestinian issue as a “strong dam” against plans to displace Palestinians. He stressed the need to immediately stop the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

He rejected Israel's continued prevention of aid trucks from entering Gaza and called for intensified international efforts regarding the aid issue, saying: “We need more effective international action and pressure on Israel to allow the aid in.” He emphasized that “the Rafah crossing should be a gateway to the life of the Palestinian people.” The Palestinian Prime Minister announced the continuation of work with Egypt to hold a conference for the reconstruction of Gaza in Cairo.

For his part, the Egyptian Foreign Minister reiterated Egypt's firm rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land, adding: “We reject Israeli statements about what is called Greater Israel,” describing them as “Israeli illusions.”

He highlighted the importance of the Palestinian Authority's role within the Gaza Strip, confirming that the Palestinian Authority must be empowered to perform its role in the sector.

Abdel Aty stated that Egypt can flood the Gaza Strip with the necessary food and medical aid, providing everything the people of the sector need, provided that Israel removes the obstacles it imposes on the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and other crossings.

He added that more than 5 crossings connect Israel to the Gaza Strip, and Israel has a clear legal responsibility to open the crossings to deliver aid.

The Foreign Minister announced that Egypt continues its efforts in negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza, and that Palestinian and Qatari delegations are present in Egypt for this purpose.
