طالب الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي، اليوم (الأحد)، بمزيد من الوضوح حول ما قد تبدو عليه الضمانات الأمنية لأوكرانيا في حال التوصل إلى اتفاق سلام، مشدداً على ضرورة أن تكون الخطوط الأمامية الحالية في الحرب أساساً لمحادثات السلام.
وقال زيلينسكي، خلال مؤتمر صحفي عقده في بروكسل إلى جانب رئيسة المفوضية الأوروبية أورسولا فون دير لاين: ما قاله الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بشأن الضمانات الأمنية أهم بكثير بالنسبة لي من رأي الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين. مضيفاً: بوتين لن يمنحنا أي ضمانات أمنية.
وأشار الرئيس الأوكراني إلى أنه ما زال هناك العديد من الأمور المجهولة في الترتيب المحتمل، من بينها هل ستوجد قوات على الأرض، وما إذا كان هناك نوع من الحماية كما هو الحال في بعض الدول الأخرى، في الأجواء، أنتم تفهمون ما أعنيه.
ونقلت شبكة «سي إن إن» عن زيلينسكي قوله: نحن نريد فعلاً الحصول على إجابة عن هذه الأسئلة، من أجل أن نفهم ما هي هذه الضمانات الأمنية. مضيفاً: نحن بحاجة إلى مفاوضات حقيقية، وهو ما يعني أنه يمكننا البدء من حيث توجد خطوط المواجهة الآن.
ولفت زيلينسكي، قبل يوم من لقائه الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب في واشنطن، إلى أن القادة الأوروبيين يؤيدون مطالبه، مشدداً على ضرورة وقف إطلاق النار من أجل التفاوض على اتفاق نهائي، وأشار إلى أنه من المهم أن تكون واشنطن إلى جانب بلاده والاتحاد الأوروبي، مبيناً أن أوكرانيا لم تطلع بعد على جميع المطالب التي طرحها بوتين في اجتماعه مع ترمب (الجمعة) وأن دراسة هذه المطالب ستستغرق وقتاً طويلاً، وأن ذلك غير ممكن تحت ضغط السلاح.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called today (Sunday) for more clarity on what security guarantees for Ukraine might look like in the event of a peace agreement, emphasizing that the current front lines in the war should serve as the basis for peace talks.
Zelensky stated during a press conference held in Brussels alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen: What U.S. President Donald Trump said about security guarantees is much more important to me than what Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks. He added: Putin will not give us any security guarantees.
The Ukrainian president pointed out that there are still many unknowns in the potential arrangement, including whether there will be forces on the ground and whether there will be some kind of protection as is the case in some other countries, in the air; you understand what I mean.
CNN reported Zelensky as saying: We really want to get answers to these questions so that we understand what these security guarantees are. He added: We need real negotiations, which means we can start from where the front lines are now.
Zelensky, a day before his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, noted that European leaders support his demands, stressing the need for a ceasefire in order to negotiate a final agreement. He pointed out that it is important for Washington to stand by his country and the European Union, indicating that Ukraine has not yet been briefed on all the demands that Putin raised in his meeting with Trump (on Friday) and that studying these demands will take a long time, and that this is not possible under the pressure of arms.
