وجاء في البيان: «يجب أن تُجرى مفاوضات جادة في سياق وقف إطلاق النار أو تقليص الأعمال العدائية».
وأُقر البيان في وقت متأخر من يوم الإثنين ونُشر اليوم (الثلاثاء)، وحظي بتأييد قادة جميع دول الاتحاد الأوروبي باستثناء المجر، بحسب وكالة «رويترز».

Twenty-six heads of state and government from the European Union issued a joint statement, in which they affirmed their support for the Ukrainian people's right to self-determination, emphasizing the need to reach a diplomatic solution that protects the vital security interests of Ukraine and Europe.
The statement read: "Serious negotiations must take place in the context of a ceasefire or a reduction in hostilities."
