رحّب الأمين العام لمجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية جاسم محمد البديوي، بإعلان رئيس الحكومة في الجمهورية اللبنانية الدكتور نواف سلام، قرار مجلس الوزراء القاضي بضمان حصر حيازة السلاح بيد الدولة في جميع أنحاء لبنان، استنادًا إلى اتفاق الطائف، والقرارات الدولية ذات الصلة، وتنفيذًا لما ورد في خطاب القسم لرئيس الجمهورية اللبنانية العماد جوزيف عون.
وأكّد الأمين العام، أن هذا القرار يشكل خطوة مهمة نحو تعزيز سيادة الدولة اللبنانية، وترسيخ الاستقرار والأمن للشعب اللبناني الشقيق، وتفعيل مؤسساتها، وأن التقدم في هذا المسار مقرون بالإصلاحات المطلوبة سيسهم بشكل كبير في تعزيز ثقة المجتمع الدولي والشركاء متعدد الأطراف، ويمهد الطريق لبيئة أكثر جذبًا للاستثمار، بما في ذلك القطاع الخاص.
كما جدد الأمين العام، على مواقف مجلس التعاون الثابتة تجاه الجمهورية اللبنانية الشقيقة، ودعمه المستمر لسيادة لبنان وأمنه واستقراره، ودعمه لمسار الإصلاح وبناء الدولة اللبنانية، وعلى ضرورة تطبيق قرارات مجلس الأمن بشأن لبنان، وخصوصاً القرار 1701، واتفاق الطائف، لاستعادة الأمن والاستقرار الدائم في لبنان، وضمان احترام سلامة أراضيه واستقلاله السياسي وسيادته داخل حدوده المعترف بها دوليًا، وبسط سيطرة الحكومة اللبنانية على جميع الأراضي اللبنانية، بما يلبي تطلعات الشعب اللبناني نحو مستقبل أكثر أمنًا وازدهارًا واستقرارًا.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, welcomed the announcement by the Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic, Dr. Nawaf Salam, regarding the Cabinet's decision to ensure that the possession of weapons is limited to the state throughout Lebanon, based on the Taif Agreement, relevant international resolutions, and in implementation of what was stated in the inaugural speech of the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Joseph Aoun.
The Secretary-General emphasized that this decision represents an important step towards enhancing the sovereignty of the Lebanese state, establishing stability and security for the brotherly Lebanese people, and activating its institutions. He noted that progress in this path, coupled with the necessary reforms, will significantly contribute to enhancing the confidence of the international community and multilateral partners, paving the way for a more attractive investment environment, including for the private sector.
The Secretary-General also reiterated the steadfast positions of the Gulf Cooperation Council towards the brotherly Lebanese Republic, its continuous support for Lebanon's sovereignty, security, and stability, and its backing for the reform process and the building of the Lebanese state. He stressed the necessity of implementing the Security Council resolutions regarding Lebanon, particularly Resolution 1701, and the Taif Agreement, to restore lasting security and stability in Lebanon, ensure respect for its territorial integrity, political independence, and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders, and to extend the control of the Lebanese government over all Lebanese territories, meeting the aspirations of the Lebanese people for a more secure, prosperous, and stable future.
