استنجد مسؤولون إسرائيليون سابقون، بينهم رؤساء سابقون لأجهزة الاستخبارات، بالرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بالضغط على رئيس الوزراء بنيامين نتنياهو، لإنهاء حرب غزة.
وجاء في رسالة مفتوحة لنحو 550 مسؤولا من أنصار حركة «قادة من أجل أمن إسرائيل» وزعت على الإعلام اليوم(الإثنين): «رأيُنا المهني أن حماس لم تعد تشكل تهديدا إستراتيجيا لإسرائيل»، مع دعوة ترمب إلى «توجيه» قرارات الحكومة والمطالبة بـ«وقف الحرب في غزة».
وقال الرئيس السابق لجهاز الأمن العام (الشاباك) عامي أيالون، وهو أحد الموقعين على الرسالة، «في البداية كانت هذه الحرب حرباً عادلة، دفاعية، لكن عندما حققنا جميع الأهداف العسكرية، لم تعد هذه الحرب عادلة... إنها تودي بإسرائيل إلى فقدان أمنها وهويتها».
ومن بين الموقعين على الرسالة ثلاثة رؤساء سابقين لجهاز الاستخبارات الخارجية (الموساد)، وهم: تمير باردو، وإفرايم هاليفي، وداني ياتوم.
وإلى جانب أيالون، وقع على الرسالة أربعة رؤساء سابقين لجهاز الأمن العام الإسرائيلي (الشاباك)، وهم نداف أرغمان، ويورام كوهين، ويعقوب بيري، وكارمي غيلون، بالإضافة إلى وزيري الدفاع السابقين إيهود باراك وموشيه (بوغي) يعالون، ورئيس هيئة الأركان السابق دان حالوتس.
وجاء في الرسالة أن الجيش الإسرائيلي حقق منذ فترة طويلة الهدفين اللذين يمكن تحقيقهما بالقوة: تفكيك التشكيلات العسكرية لحماس وإنهاء حكمها. أما الهدف الثالث، والأهم، فلا يمكن تحقيقه إلا من خلال صفقة: إعادة جميع الرهائن إلى الوطن... أما ملاحقة كبار قادة حماس المتبقين، فيمكن تنفيذها لاحقا.
وأكدت الرسالة أن الرئيس ترمب يتمتع بمصداقية لدى غالبية الإسرائيليين، ويمكنه الضغط على نتنياهو لإنهاء الحرب واستعادة الرهائن.
ويرى الموقعون أن وقف إطلاق النار سيفتح الباب أمام ترمب لتشكيل تحالف إقليمي يدعم سلطة فلسطينية مُصلحة لتتولى إدارة قطاع غزة بدلا من حكم حماس.
واندلعت حرب غزة بعد هجوم مباغت شنته حماس على جنوب إسرائيل في السابع من أكتوبر 2023، أسفر عن مقتل 1219 شخصاً، معظمهم من المدنيين.
وردّت إسرائيل بحرب مدمّرة وعمليات عسكرية لا تزال متواصلة، أسفرت عن مقتل ما لا يقل عن 60839 فلسطينيا معظمهم من المدنيين.
وتواجه إسرائيل في الأسابيع الأخيرة ضغوطا دولية متزايدة للموافقة على وقف لإطلاق النار يقضي بإطلاق سراح الرهائن وتسهيل توزيع المساعدات الإنسانية من قبل المنظمات الإغاثية وعلى رأسها التابعة للأمم المتحدة، إلا أن أطرافا داخل إسرائيل، بينهم وزراء في حكومة نتنياهو اليمينية، يطالبون بمواصلة الحرب وإعادة احتلال غزة.

Former Israeli officials, including former heads of intelligence agencies, have called on U.S. President Donald Trump to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the Gaza war.
In an open letter signed by about 550 officials from the "Leaders for a Secure Israel" movement, distributed to the media today (Monday), they stated: "In our professional opinion, Hamas no longer poses a strategic threat to Israel," urging Trump to "guide" government decisions and demand a "ceasefire in Gaza."
Former head of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) Ami Ayalon, one of the signatories of the letter, said, "Initially, this war was a just, defensive war, but once we achieved all military objectives, this war is no longer just... It is leading Israel to lose its security and identity."
Among the signatories are three former heads of the Mossad, Israel's foreign intelligence service: Tamir Pardo, Efraim Halevy, and Danny Yatom.
In addition to Ayalon, four former heads of the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) signed the letter: Nadav Argaman, Yoram Cohen, Yaakov Peri, and Carmi Gillon, along with former Defense Ministers Ehud Barak and Moshe (Bogie) Ya'alon, and former Chief of Staff Dan Halutz.
The letter stated that the Israeli army has long achieved the two objectives that can be accomplished by force: dismantling Hamas's military formations and ending its rule. The third and most important objective can only be achieved through a deal: the return of all hostages... As for pursuing the remaining senior Hamas leaders, that can be carried out later.
The letter emphasized that President Trump has credibility with the majority of Israelis and can pressure Netanyahu to end the war and secure the return of the hostages.
The signatories believe that a ceasefire would open the door for Trump to form a regional alliance that supports a reformed Palestinian Authority to manage the Gaza Strip instead of Hamas's rule.
The Gaza war erupted after a surprise attack by Hamas on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of 1,219 people, mostly civilians.
Israel responded with a devastating war and military operations that are still ongoing, resulting in the deaths of at least 60,839 Palestinians, most of whom are civilians.
In recent weeks, Israel has faced increasing international pressure to agree to a ceasefire that includes the release of hostages and facilitates the distribution of humanitarian aid by relief organizations, primarily those affiliated with the United Nations.
