أعلنت الحكومة البريطانية، اليوم (الأحد)، خططا جديدة لفرض عقوبات صارمة تصل إلى السجن لمدة خمس سنوات على الأفراد الذين يستخدمون وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي للترويج لخدمات تهريب المهاجرين غير الشرعيين إلى بريطانيا.
تأتي هذه الخطوة في ظل الضغوط السياسية والشعبية الكبيرة التي تواجهها حكومة حزب العمال بقيادة رئيس الوزراء كير ستارمر للحد من تدفق المهاجرين الذين يصلون عبر قوارب صغيرة من فرنسا.
ووفقًا لتقارير رسمية، تجاوز عدد المهاجرين الذين عبروا القناة الإنجليزية هذا العام 25,000 مهاجر، مما دفع الحكومة إلى تكثيف جهودها لمكافحة شبكات تهريب البشر.
وكشف تحليل أجرته وزارة الداخلية البريطانية أن نحو 80% من المهاجرين الذين يصلون على متن القوارب الصغيرة استخدموا وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي للتواصل مع المهربين أو البحث عن خدماتهم.
وبموجب قانون جديد سيُضاف إلى التشريعات الجارية في البرلمان البريطاني، سيواجه الأفراد الذين ينشرون إعلانات عبر الإنترنت للترويج لخدمات تسهل خرق قوانين الهجرة غرامات مالية وعقوبات بالسجن تصل إلى خمس سنوات.
ويأتي هذا القانون لتعزيز الجهود القائمة، حيث يُعتبر تسهيل الهجرة غير الشرعية إلى بريطانيا جريمة بالفعل، لكن الحكومة أكدت أن هذا الإجراء الجديد سيمنح أجهزة إنفاذ القانون أداة إضافية لتعطيل عمل العصابات الإجرامية التي تستفيد من تنظيم هذه العمليات.
