أطلقت إسرائيل عملية عسكرية جوية وبرية واسعة النطاق ضد قطاع غزة، استهدفت مركز العمليات الإنسانية الرئيسي في دير البلح، في الوقت الذي انضمت فيه المملكة المتحدة إلى 28 دولة أخرى للمطالبة بإنهاء الحرب في الشرق الأوسط.

وفي دير البلح، أفاد شهود عيان بمشاهدة غارات جوية كثيفة ليلة أمس، إذ أكدت مصادر طبية محلية، مقتل ثلاثة أشخاص وإصابة العشرات جراء قصف الدبابات الإسرائيلية للمنازل والمساجد في المنطقة. ويبدو أن هذه العملية تهدف إلى تقسيم الأراضي الفلسطينية عبر إنشاء ممرات عسكرية.
واتهمت منظمة الصحة العالمية القوات الإسرائيلية باستهداف مقر إقامة موظفيها ومستودعها الرئيسي في غزة، في حين أفادت وكالة الأمم المتحدة للغذاء بأن القوات الإسرائيلية أطلقت النار على حشد من الفلسطينيين الذين كانوا يسعون للحصول على مساعدات إنسانية خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع.
تُعد هذه العملية البرية الأولى في دير البلح، المدينة الوحيدة في غزة التي لم تشهد عمليات عسكرية كبيرة أو دماراً واسع النطاق خلال 21 شهراً من الحرب، مما أثار تكهنات بأن حركة حماس تحتفظ بعدد كبير من الرهائن في المنطقة.
وأعربت المنظمة الرئيسية التي تمثل عائلات الرهائن عن صدمتها وقلقها من هذا التوغل، مطالبة القادة الإسرائيليين بتقديم توضيحات.
وأشارت إسرائيل إلى أن الاستيلاء على أراضٍ في غزة يهدف إلى الضغط على حماس لإطلاق سراح الرهائن، لكن هذه الخطوة تشكل نقطة خلاف رئيسية في محادثات وقف إطلاق النار الجارية. من جانبها، وصفت وزارة الصحة في غزة الهجوم على طالبي المساعدات بأنه أحد أكثر الهجمات دموية، محذرة من أن القطاع على شفا مجاعة.
وفي سياق متصل، أصدرت المملكة المتحدة وفرنسا و23 دولة أخرى بياناً مشتركاً يطالب بإنهاء الحرب في غزة فوراً، منتقدة القيود الإسرائيلية على المساعدات الإنسانية ومطالبة بالإفراج عن الرهائن المتبقين، البالغ عددهم نحو 50 رهينة.
ودان البيان ما وصفوه بـ«التوزيع البطيء للمساعدات»، مشيرين إلى أن مقتل مدنيين أثناء سعيهم للحصول على المساعدات «أمر مروع».
وأعربت الدول الغربية، بما في ذلك حلفاء إسرائيل مثل الولايات المتحدة وكندا وأستراليا ونيوزيلندا، عن إحباطها من النموذج الإسرائيلي لتوزيع المساعدات، واصفة إياه بالخطير والمسبّب لعدم الاستقرار.
في المقابل، ردت وزارة الخارجية الإسرائيلية بأن البيان منفصل عن الواقع ويرسل رسالة خاطئة لحماس، مؤكدة أن الحركة تتحمل مسؤولية معاناة السكان واستمرار الحرب.
من جهته، وصف السفير الأمريكي لدى إسرائيل، مايك هوكابي، البيان بأنه مقزز، معتبراً أن توجيه اللوم لإسرائيل غير منطقي بسبب رفض حماس لكل مقترحات إنهاء الحرب.
ووفقاً لسلطات الصحة في غزة، أسفرت الحملة الإسرائيلية عن مقتل أكثر من 59,000 فلسطيني حتى الآن.
Israel has launched a large-scale military operation, both aerial and ground, against the Gaza Strip, targeting the main humanitarian operations center in Deir al-Balah, at a time when the United Kingdom joined 28 other countries in calling for an end to the war in the Middle East.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, along with foreign ministers from other Western countries, described the suffering of civilians in Gaza as having reached unprecedented levels.
In Deir al-Balah, eyewitnesses reported seeing heavy airstrikes last night, with local medical sources confirming the deaths of three people and injuries to dozens due to Israeli tank shelling of homes and mosques in the area. This operation appears to aim at dividing Palestinian territories by creating military corridors.
The World Health Organization accused Israeli forces of targeting the residence of its staff and its main warehouse in Gaza, while the United Nations food agency reported that Israeli forces fired on a crowd of Palestinians seeking humanitarian aid over the weekend.
This is the first ground operation in Deir al-Balah, the only city in Gaza that has not witnessed major military operations or widespread destruction during 21 months of war, raising speculation that Hamas is holding a large number of hostages in the area.
The main organization representing the families of the hostages expressed shock and concern over this incursion, demanding clarifications from Israeli leaders.
Israel indicated that the seizure of land in Gaza aims to pressure Hamas to release the hostages, but this move constitutes a major point of contention in ongoing ceasefire talks. For its part, the Gaza Health Ministry described the attack on aid seekers as one of the deadliest, warning that the enclave is on the brink of famine.
In a related context, the United Kingdom, France, and 23 other countries issued a joint statement calling for an immediate end to the war in Gaza, criticizing Israeli restrictions on humanitarian aid and demanding the release of the remaining hostages, numbering around 50.
The statement condemned what they described as the "slow distribution of aid," noting that the deaths of civilians while seeking assistance is "horrific."
Western countries, including Israel's allies such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, expressed frustration with the Israeli model of aid distribution, describing it as dangerous and destabilizing.
In response, the Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that the statement is disconnected from reality and sends the wrong message to Hamas, asserting that the movement bears responsibility for the suffering of the population and the continuation of the war.
For his part, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, described the statement as disgusting, considering that blaming Israel is unreasonable given Hamas's rejection of all proposals to end the war.
According to Gaza health authorities, the Israeli campaign has resulted in the deaths of more than 59,000 Palestinians so far.
