The Syrian government buses began today (Monday) evacuating about 1,500 people from detainees in Sweida, in implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the end of the bloody confrontations. Sources and eyewitnesses reported that those to be evacuated will be transferred to the countryside of Sweida, and then to the Daraa governorate under the supervision of the Syrian Red Crescent, with the intention of returning to their residential areas in Sweida after security is restored, fighting ceases, and the situation is stabilized.
The official Syrian news channel announced that families of detainees began to leave Sweida after mediation efforts made by the Syrian government. It added that those injured in the recent clashes have started to come out.
For his part, the head of internal security in the Sweida governorate, Major General Ahmad al-Dalati, stated that the process of releasing the families of the Bedouins detained by the Sweida factions has begun.
The Syrian news agency (SANA) quoted al-Dalati as saying: "As a result of the mediation efforts made by the Syrian government with the parties in the Sweida governorate, which focus on stopping the escalation and promoting reconciliation, the families of the Bedouins detained in the governorate will be released in the coming hours, ensuring their safe return to their homes, as part of the state's commitment to protect all its citizens and maintain the unity of the national fabric." He emphasized the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire by all parties and opening the way for state institutions to take their role in restoring security and stability to the governorate.
The Syrian Minister of Health, Musab al-Ali, warned yesterday that the continuation of the current situation in the Sweida governorate for a long time could lead to a "catastrophic" situation, following the bloody armed clashes that the governorate witnessed in recent days. He stated in remarks to the Syrian "Ikhbariya" television that the security reality limits the work of organizations, and when the authority of the state and laws are absent from any place, it will enter a state of chaos, noting that he is in constant contact with the health directorate in Sweida.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned yesterday the actions of lawless elements in Sweida who prevented a humanitarian convoy from entering the governorate.
The bloody clashes that lasted for several days between local armed groups and Bedouin tribes in Sweida resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries.
