أعلنت السلطات في ولاية إنديانا الأمريكية وفاة 6 أشخاص على الأقل جراء العواصف والفيضانات التي اجتاحت الولاية، فيما جرى إجلاء مئات الأشخاص، في وقت تواصل فرق الإنقاذ عملياتها مع ارتفاع منسوب المياه في عدد من المناطق.
موارد اتحادية لمواجهة آثار الفيضانات
وأكد حاكم الولاية مايك براون أمس (السبت) أن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب يعتزم الموافقة على طلب الولاية الحصول على موارد اتحادية للمساعدة في الاستجابة للفيضانات والتعافي من آثارها.
إنقاذ 95 شخصاً وإجلاء أكثر من 350
وأنقذت السلطات 95 شخصاً مع ارتفاع منسوب مياه الفيضانات على طول نهر وايت، فيما أجلت أكثر من 350 شخصاً في مقاطعة ديلاوير، بينما تتواصل عمليات الإنقاذ والتحقق من سلامة السكان في مناطق أخرى.
وقال مدير إدارة الطوارئ في مقاطعة ماريون جاكوب سبنس إن هذا النوع من الفيضانات يحدث مرة واحدة في العمر، واصفاً الحدث بأنه غير مسبوق، ومشيراً إلى تسجيل أرقام قياسية جديدة.
الوفيات موزعة على 5 مقاطعات
وتوزعت الوفيات الـ6 على مقاطعات ديلاوير وجينينجز وليك وبورتر ولا بورت، وشملت طفلاً يبلغ من العمر أربع سنوات و3 نساء ورجلين، وفقاً لمركز عمليات الطوارئ في الولاية.
أمطار غزيرة ومستويات قياسية للمياه
وكانت الولاية قد شهدت خلال الأسبوع الماضي أمطاراً غزيرة أدت إلى ارتفاع منسوب المياه في الأنهار والجداول إلى مستويات قياسية، فيما أعلنت أكثر من 12 مقاطعة حالات كوارث محلية.

Rescue of 95 People and Evacuation of More than 350
The authorities rescued 95 people as floodwaters rose along the White River, while more than 350 people were evacuated in Delaware County, as rescue operations and checks on the safety of residents continue in other areas.
Jacob Spence, the director of the emergency management agency in Marion County, stated that this type of flooding occurs once in a lifetime, describing the event as unprecedented and noting the recording of new record levels.
Deaths Distributed Across 5 Counties
The 6 fatalities were distributed across Delaware, Jennings, Lake, Porter, and La Porte counties, and included a 4-year-old child, 3 women, and 2 men, according to the state's emergency operations center.
Heavy Rain and Record Water Levels
The state experienced heavy rainfall last week, leading to record-high water levels in rivers and streams, while more than 12 counties declared local disaster situations.
