طالب الرئيس الكولومبي الجديد أبيلاردو دي لا إسبرييّا، نظيره الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، بتعليق الرسوم الجمركية المفروضة على المنتجات الكولومبية مؤقتاً، في مسعى لتخفيف الضغوط الاقتصادية التي تواجهها البلاد عقب الزلزال الذي ضربها (الإثنين).
وأوضح دي لا إسبرييّا، في منشور عبر منصة «إكس»، أنه طلب من ترمب النظر في تعليق مؤقت للرسوم الجمركية المرتفعة، بهدف منح أصحاب الأعمال المحليين متنفساً، في ظل الظروف الاقتصادية الصعبة الناجمة عن تداعيات الزلزال.
وكانت الولايات المتحدة قد رفعت في أواخر يوليو الماضي الرسوم الجمركية المفروضة على المنتجات الكولومبية من 10% إلى 12.5%، مع استثناء عدد من السلع، من بينها منتجات البن والنفط.
وتأتي دعوة الرئيس الكولومبي في وقت تسعى الحكومة إلى الحد من الأعباء الاقتصادية التي تواجه الشركات المحلية، ودعم النشاط التجاري في أعقاب الكارثة الطبيعية التي ضربت البلاد.
The new Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella has urged his American counterpart Donald Trump to temporarily suspend the tariffs imposed on Colombian products, in an effort to alleviate the economic pressures the country is facing following the earthquake that struck it on Monday.
De la Espriella clarified in a post on the "X" platform that he requested Trump to consider a temporary suspension of the high tariffs, aiming to provide local business owners with some relief amid the difficult economic conditions resulting from the earthquake's aftermath.
The United States had raised the tariffs on Colombian products from 10% to 12.5% at the end of July, while exempting a number of goods, including coffee and oil products.
The Colombian president's call comes at a time when the government is seeking to reduce the economic burdens facing local companies and support commercial activity in the wake of the natural disaster that hit the country.
