Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was hospitalized today (Sunday) due to food poisoning, which kept him from the weekly government meeting. According to a statement issued by his office, Netanyahu underwent a medical examination at his home.

The office stated that Netanyahu felt ill during the night and underwent a medical examination at home, which revealed that he is suffering from intestinal inflammation caused by eating spoiled food.

The "Times of Israel" newspaper reported that the office's statement said: "The Prime Minister's condition is good," and he is currently receiving intravenous fluids to compensate for dehydration caused by the illness. It noted that based on the doctors' instructions, the Prime Minister will rest at home for three days and will manage the affairs of the Israeli entity from there.

Netanyahu is 75 years old and has faced several health issues in recent years, the latest being in December when he underwent a prostatectomy. In March 2024, he had surgery due to a hernia, and he was also absent from work for several days after contracting the flu.

The newspaper mentioned that Netanyahu underwent a procedure in 2023 to implant a device to regulate his heartbeat, noting that a medical report issued in January 2023 indicated that his health condition was "completely normal," and that the implanted device is functioning well without any signs of arrhythmia or other health issues.
