Israeli extremists attacked Arab Knesset member Ayman Odeh today (Saturday) as he was heading to the town of "Ness Tziona" near Tel Aviv to deliver a speech against the war on the Gaza Strip.
Ayman Odeh's office, the head of the "Arab Joint List" in the Knesset, stated in a press release that while he was on his way to deliver the speech, "the fascists (Israeli extremists) smashed his car while he was inside, in addition to spitting, cursing, beating with sticks, and throwing stones," adding: "But he insisted on not backing down, and he spoke at the public meeting despite the fascists who had become completely frenzied."
Odeh called for an immediate halt to the war on Gaza and for a prisoner exchange deal, accusing the Israeli police of being completely complicit with the extremists who chased him with sticks and stones, and when he reached his car, they continued to smash it.
The statement indicated that Odeh is fine. The attack on Odeh came after the Israeli Knesset (on Monday) failed to secure the necessary majority to expel him from parliament, following a post in which he announced his support for a prisoner exchange with Hamas and support for the Gaza Strip.
After the failed vote to expel him from the Knesset, Odeh wrote on his account on "X": "I am staying, the vile and fascist attempt against me has failed," adding: "This time, fascism did not pass, and we will not allow it to pass; we will stand firmly against it, and we will continue to struggle for democracy, equality, and peace."
The Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" reported that the right-wing religious party "Shas" announced its support for Odeh's expulsion, but the religious parties are refraining from voting on the laws due to a dispute with the government over the law regarding the conscription of religious Jews.
