أكد الزعيم الدرزي الرئيس السابق للحزب التقدمي الاشتراكي في لبنان وليد جنبلاط اليوم (الجمعة) أن جبل العرب في السويداء جزء لا يتجزأ من سورية، والبعض يطلب شيئاً آخر تحت شعار الحماية، معلناً رفضه أية حماية خارجية ومطالباً بإدانة الاعتداءات الإسرائيلية على سورية وعلى لبنان.
الزعيم الدرزي ذكر في مؤتمر صحفي أن الإسرائيليين بتدخلهم يأججون النار، ويريدون وضع الدروز في مواجهة مع كل مكونات المجتمع السوري، معلناً عن اقتراح لوقف إطلاق النار والدخول في حوار بين الدولة وفاعليات السويداء.
ودعا جنبلاط إلى تشكيل لجنة تحقيق بشأن ما جرى للدروز والبدو في مدينة السويداء جنوب سورية، موضحاً أنهم يفتقدون وجود الرجال الكبار في السويداء اليوم.
وقال جنبلاط: «علينا تحكيم العقل قبل الدخول في الإدانات بشأن ما يحدث في سورية»، مشدداً بالقول: «نتمنى على أهل الجبل ألا يشوّهوا سيرة سلطان باشا الأطرش». في الوقت ذاته، أكد شيخ عقل طائفة الموحدين الدروز في لبنان الدكتور سامي أبي المنى رفضه أية تدخلات خارجية أو حماية إسرائيلية أو اعتداءات تسهم في زعزعة الوحدة السورية.
وطالب مشايخ العقل في جبل العرب والمراجع والفاعليات الدينية والعشائر بالعمل الجدّي والمجدي من أجل وقف فوري للعنف الدائر، وعدم الاستمرار في القتال، ودرء الفتنة، وطرد من يعمل على تأجيج الأزمة وتقويض الاستقرار، ويعمل بقصد أو غير قصد على تنفيذ المخططات المشبوهة، معرباً عن إدانته الاعتداء على أبناء العشائر في سورية وقال إنه غير مبرر إطلاقاً.
ودعا «أبي المنى» إلى طيّ صفحة الأزمة في السويداء والعودة للعيش المشترك، محذراً من تأجيج الوضع الطائفي، وشدد على ضرورة صيانة اتفاق السويداء الذي حصل أخيراً، داعياً إلى رعاية عربية لضمان إنجاز الاتفاق.

The Druze leader and former president of the Progressive Socialist Party in Lebanon, Walid Jumblatt, confirmed today (Friday) that Jabal al-Arab in Sweida is an integral part of Syria, and some are asking for something else under the banner of protection, announcing his rejection of any foreign protection and demanding condemnation of Israeli attacks on Syria and Lebanon.
The Druze leader mentioned in a press conference that the Israelis, through their intervention, are fueling the fire and want to put the Druze in confrontation with all components of Syrian society, announcing a proposal for a ceasefire and entering into dialogue between the state and the stakeholders in Sweida.
Jumblatt called for the formation of an investigative committee regarding what happened to the Druze and Bedouins in the city of Sweida in southern Syria, explaining that they lack the presence of great men in Sweida today.
Jumblatt said: "We must use reason before entering into condemnations regarding what is happening in Syria," emphasizing: "We hope that the people of the mountain do not distort the legacy of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash." At the same time, the Sheikh of the Druze community in Lebanon, Dr. Sami Abi al-Muna, confirmed his rejection of any foreign interventions or Israeli protection or attacks that contribute to undermining Syrian unity.
He called on the Druze leaders in Jabal al-Arab, religious references, and tribal figures to work seriously and effectively for an immediate cessation of the ongoing violence, to stop the fighting, to avert sedition, and to expel those who are working to fuel the crisis and undermine stability, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and who are executing dubious plans, expressing his condemnation of the attacks on the tribes' members in Syria, stating that they are completely unjustified.
Abi al-Muna called for closing the chapter on the crisis in Sweida and returning to coexistence, warning against inflaming sectarian tensions, and stressing the necessity of preserving the recent agreement in Sweida, calling for Arab sponsorship to ensure the implementation of the agreement.
