أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب شحن أسلحة جديدة إلى أوكرانيا تكفل بمصاريفها الناتو، مؤكداً أنه لن يزودها بأسلحة بعيدة المدى، وأن كييف يجب ألا تستهدف موسكو.
وقال في تصريحات للصحفيين إنه لم يتحدث إلى الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين منذ الإعلان عن اعتزامه فرض عقوبات على روسيا، مشيرا إلى عدم التزامه بتعهده بأنه يريد السلام.
وردا على سؤال عما إذا كان ينبغي على الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي ضرب موسكو أو مناطق أكثر عمقا في الداخل الروسي كجزء من حملة لقلب الطاولة على الكرملين، أجاب ترمب: «لا ينبغي أن يستهدف موسكو».
ورفض ترمب الانتقادات بأنه يمنح روسيا نافذة كبيرة للغاية للتوصل إلى اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار، قائلا: «لا أعتقد أن 50 يوما هو وقت طويل. ويمكن أن يكون قبل ذلك».
وعن إيران، قال ترمب إن طهران تأمل في إجراء محادثات مع الولايات المتحدة، لكنه ليس في عجلة من أمره للتحدث معها، «يريدون التحدث، لست في عجلة من أمري للتحدث لأننا دمرنا مواقعهم»، في إشارة إلى القصف الأمريكي للمواقع النووية الإيرانية الشهر الماضي.

He stated in remarks to reporters that he has not spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin since announcing his intention to impose sanctions on Russia, pointing out Putin's failure to adhere to his commitment to seek peace.
In response to a question about whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should strike Moscow or deeper areas within Russia as part of a campaign to turn the tables on the Kremlin, Trump replied: "Moscow should not be targeted."
Trump rejected criticisms that he is giving Russia too large a window to reach a ceasefire agreement, saying: "I don't think 50 days is a long time. It could be before that."
Regarding Iran, Trump said that Tehran hopes to hold talks with the United States, but he is not in a hurry to speak with them, stating, "They want to talk, I'm not in a hurry to talk because we destroyed their sites," referring to the U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear sites last month.
