فيما أعلن الاحتلال الإسرائيلي مقتل جندي وفلسطينيين، في هجوم وقع عند مفترق مستوطنة غوش عتصيون جنوبي الضفة الغربية عندما أقدم فلسطينيان على تنفيذ عملية طعن وإطلاق نار، أبدى وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، اليوم (الخميس)، تفاؤله بالتوصل إلى اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار في غزة.
وقال روبيو للصحفيين، على هامش قمة رابطة دول جنوب شرق آسيا (آسيان) في ماليزيا: «أعتقد أننا أقرب، وربما أقرب مما كنا عليه منذ فترة طويلة»، مبيناً أنه تحدث مع المبعوث الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف مساء أمس وهو متفائل أيضا بأنه سيتم عقد محادثات غير مباشرة قريباً.
من جهة أخرى، قال مسؤول إسرائيلي إن إسرائيل وحركة حماس قد تتمكنان من التوصل إلى اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار في غزة وإطلاق سراح الأسرى خلال أسبوع أو أسبوعين، مبيناً أنه من غير المتوقع التوصل إلى مثل هذا الاتفاق خلال يوم واحد.
وكان رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي قال لـ«فوكس نيوز» الأمريكية إن الاتفاق أصبح وشيكا، مشيراً إلى أن الاتفاق سيكون لمدة شهرين.
من جهته، جدد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب التأكيد على وجودِ فرصة للاتفاق في غزة، إما هذا الأسبوع، أو الأسبوع القادم، مشيراً إلى أن المهم التوصل إلى اتفاق قريباً.
ميدانياً، نقلت إذاعة جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي عن مصدر طبي أن حارسا إسرائيليا قتل في الهجوم عند غوش عتصيون جنوب الضفة الغربية، موضحة أنه جندي احتياط.
وقالت الإذاعة إن الهجوم بدأ عندما ترجّل فلسطينيان من سيارة تحمل لوحة تسجيل فلسطينية عند المفترق، وقاما بطعن حارس أمن إسرائيلي واستوليا على سلاحه، مبينة أن قوات أمن ومواطنين مسلحين كانوا في المكان اشتبكوا مع المهاجمين وأطلقوا النار عليهما، ما أدى إلى مقتلهما في الموقع.
وفرض جيش الاحتلال والشرطة الإسرائيلية طوقاً أمنياً واسعاً في المنطقة، وأغلقت مفترق غوش عتصيون في جميع الاتجاهات، ومنعت الدخول والخروج من ست مستوطنات مجاورة، وبحسب الهيئة فإن الجيش أغلق أيضاً مداخل مدينتي الخليل وبيت لحم، وبدأ عمليات تمشيط بحثاً عن مشتبهين إضافيين.

On the other hand, an Israeli official stated that Israel and Hamas might be able to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and release prisoners within a week or two, indicating that such an agreement is not expected to be reached in just one day.
The Israeli Prime Minister told Fox News that the agreement is imminent, pointing out that it will last for two months.
For his part, U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated that there is a chance for an agreement in Gaza, either this week or next week, emphasizing that it is important to reach an agreement soon.
On the ground, the Israeli army radio reported from a medical source that an Israeli guard was killed in the attack at Gush Etzion in the southern West Bank, clarifying that he was a reserve soldier.
The radio stated that the attack began when two Palestinians got out of a vehicle with Palestinian license plates at the intersection, stabbed an Israeli security guard, and seized his weapon, indicating that security forces and armed citizens present at the scene engaged with the attackers and shot them, resulting in their deaths on site.
The Israeli army and police imposed a wide security cordon in the area, closing the Gush Etzion intersection in all directions, and preventing entry and exit from six neighboring settlements. According to the authority, the army also closed the entrances to the cities of Hebron and Bethlehem and began search operations for additional suspects.
