أعلن المبعوث الأمريكي إلى الشرق الأوسط ستيف ويتكوف، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، أن النقاط الخلافية بين حركة حماس وإسرائيل حول اتفاق وقف النار وتبادل الأسرى تقلصت من أربعة إلى واحدة، معرباً عن أمله في التوصل إلى اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار لمدة 60 يوماً بحلول نهاية الأسبوع.
وقال ويتكوف: نجري مفاوضات لتقريب وجهات النظر ونأمل التوصل للاتفاق بشأن غزة، مضيفاً: نسعى لسلام دائم في غزة وما نسعى له هو حل النزاع بصورة حقيقية.
من جهته، وصف الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب الوضع في غزة ببـ «المأساوي»، ملمحاً لتهجير سكان غزة، موضحاً للصحفيين في البيت الأبيض أن نتنياهو يرغب في التوصل إلى حل.
وكان ترمب ونتنياهو قد التقيا الاثنين خلال زيارة نتنياهو الثالثة إلى واشنطن منذ عودة ترمب إلى البيت الأبيض، فيما جدد نتنياهو رفضه لإقامة دولة فلسطينية كاملة الأركان.
زاعماً أن أي دولة فلسطينية مستقلة ستكون منصة لتدمير بلاده، رغم أنه قال إنه يريد السلام مع الفلسطينيين، مبدياً استعداده لإنهاء الحرب بشرط أن لا تتمكن حركة حماس من النشاط مجدداً.
وأشار إلى أن إسرائيل ستحتفظ دائماً بالسيطرة الأمنية على قطاع غزة.
ميدانياً، طالب المتحدث باسم الجيش الإسرائيلي أفيخاي أدرعي، سكان مناطق في خان يونس جنوب قطاع غزة، بالإخلاء الفوري لجهة الغرب، موضحاً أن الأمر يشمل السكان داخل الخيام في تلك المنطقة.
ولفت إلى أن جيش الاحتلال يقوم بتوسيع عملياته من خلال القوات البرية المناورة، وتفعيل النيران بشكل مكثف ومباغت.
The American envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, announced today (Tuesday) that the points of contention between Hamas and Israel regarding the ceasefire agreement and prisoner exchange have decreased from four to one, expressing hope for reaching a ceasefire agreement lasting 60 days by the end of the week.
Witkoff stated: "We are negotiating to bridge the viewpoints and hope to reach an agreement regarding Gaza," adding: "We are seeking lasting peace in Gaza, and what we are striving for is a real resolution to the conflict."
For his part, President Donald Trump described the situation in Gaza as "tragic," hinting at the displacement of Gaza's residents, explaining to reporters at the White House that Netanyahu wishes to reach a solution.
Trump and Netanyahu met on Monday during Netanyahu's third visit to Washington since Trump's return to the White House, while Netanyahu reiterated his rejection of establishing a fully-fledged Palestinian state.
Claiming that any independent Palestinian state would serve as a platform for the destruction of his country, despite stating that he wants peace with the Palestinians, he expressed his willingness to end the war on the condition that Hamas would not be able to operate again.
He indicated that Israel will always maintain security control over the Gaza Strip.
On the ground, Israeli army spokesperson Avichai Adraee called on residents in areas of Khan Younis in southern Gaza to evacuate immediately to the west, clarifying that this includes residents inside tents in that area.
He pointed out that the occupation army is expanding its operations through maneuvering ground forces and intensifying and surprising fire.
