أعلنت وزارة الداخلية السورية القبض على العميد رياض حمدو الشحادة، الذي شغل مناصب عدة لدى جهاز الأمن السياسي في عهد نظام بشار الأسد، كان آخرها رئيس فرع الأمن السياسي بدمشق.
وأفاد بيان صادر عن الداخلية السورية، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، بأن مديرية الأمن الداخلي في منطقة تلكلخ بريف حمص تمكنت، خلال عملية أمنية دقيقة، من القبض على العميد المجرم رياض الشحادة.
وذكر البيان، أن الشحادة شغل مناصب رفيعة عدة في عدد من المحافظات، وكان آخرها رئيس فرع الأمن السياسي في دمشق، ويُشتبه في تورطه بارتكاب جرائم حرب جسيمة بحق المدنيين، من بينها عمليات تصفية لعدد كبير من المعارضين، بينهم نساء، إضافة إلى حملات اعتقال تعسفية جرت بتعليمات مباشرة منه.
وتمت إحالة الشحادة إلى القضاء المختص لاتخاذ الإجراءات القانونية بحقه، في إطار سعي المؤسسات القضائية إلى محاسبة المتورطين في الانتهاكات ضد الشعب السوري.
وتجيء هذه الخطوة ضمن سلسلة إجراءات تهدف إلى تحقيق العدالة ومحاسبة المسؤولين عن الانتهاكات، وسط مطالبات شعبية وحقوقية مستمرة بمحاكمة المتورطين بملفات القمع والتصفية خلال سنوات حكم الأسد.
ومنذ سقوط نظام بشار الأسد في الـ8 من شهر ديسمبر العام 2024، تمكنت القوات السورية من اعتقال عدد كبير من المتورطين في انتهاكات بحث معارضين للنظام خلال السنوات الماضية.
وأكدت تقارير أممية وحقوقية أن نظام بشار الأسد كان يمارس انتهاكات واسعة بحق السوريين المعارضين، وتم اكتشاف مقابر جماعية عقب سقوط النظام.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of Brigadier General Riad Hamdo Al-Shahada, who held several positions in the Political Security apparatus during Bashar Al-Assad's regime, the latest of which was the head of the Political Security branch in Damascus.
A statement issued by the Syrian Ministry of Interior today (Tuesday) indicated that the Internal Security Directorate in the Tal Kalakh area of Homs countryside managed, during a precise security operation, to arrest the criminal Brigadier General Riad Al-Shahada.
The statement mentioned that Al-Shahada held several high-ranking positions in various provinces, the latest being the head of the Political Security branch in Damascus, and he is suspected of being involved in committing serious war crimes against civilians, including the liquidation of a large number of opponents, among them women, in addition to arbitrary detention campaigns carried out under his direct orders.
Al-Shahada has been referred to the competent judiciary to take legal action against him, as part of the judicial institutions' efforts to hold accountable those involved in violations against the Syrian people.
This step comes as part of a series of measures aimed at achieving justice and holding accountable those responsible for violations, amid ongoing popular and human rights demands for the prosecution of those involved in repression and liquidation cases during Assad's rule.
Since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, Syrian forces have managed to arrest a large number of those involved in violations against opponents of the regime over the past years.
UN and human rights reports have confirmed that Bashar Al-Assad's regime was committing widespread violations against opposing Syrians, and mass graves were discovered following the fall of the regime.
