After a day of announcing the establishment of a new political party, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent today (Sunday) urged billionaire Elon Musk to stay out of politics and focus on managing his companies.
Pisent said, "Billionaire Elon Musk should stay out of politics and commit to managing his companies," adding in statements to "CNN" that the boards of directors of Musk's companies, "Tesla" and "SpaceX," likely prefer that he stays out of politics.
He pointed out that the boards of these companies might not have appreciated these statements yesterday and would encourage him to focus on his business activities, not his political activities.
Musk announced yesterday (Saturday) that he is founding the "America Party" in response to President Donald Trump's tax and spending bill, which the billionaire considered a step towards the bankruptcy of the United States.
Azura Partners, which intended to launch a fund linked to Tesla, the car manufacturing company owned by Musk, stated that it has decided to postpone the launch of the project, considering the establishment of the party to be in conflict with Musk's responsibilities as a full-time CEO.
Musk, who has served as a senior advisor to the White House in recent months, said that his new party will seek to oust the Republicans in Congress who supported the "big, beautiful bill" in next year's midterm elections.
The "White House" responded by saying that the passage of the bill demonstrates the strength of the Republican Party, with spokesperson Harrison Fields stating: "As the leader of the Republican Party, President Trump united the party and contributed to its growth in a way we have never seen before."
