Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi warned that war and occupation fuel a cycle of hatred and violence, opening doors to revenge and resistance, and do not produce peace.
During the celebration of the 12th anniversary of the June 30 Revolution today (Monday), El-Sisi emphasized the necessity of stopping violence, killing, hatred, occupation, displacement, and homelessness. He affirmed that peace, although it may seem difficult to attain, is not impossible, as it has always been the choice of the wise.
The Egyptian president called for drawing inspiration from the Egyptian-Israeli peace experience in the 1970s, which was mediated by the United States, stressing that peace can be achieved if intentions are sincere.
He added that the entire region is currently groaning under the weight of wars in Gaza, Sudan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia, urging the parties in conflict and the international community to continue taking all necessary measures and to heed the voice of wisdom and reason, to spare the peoples of the region the woes of destruction and devastation. El-Sisi reiterated that Egypt, which always supports peace, believes that peace is not born from bombardment, nor imposed by force, nor achieved through normalization rejected by the peoples, but rather true peace is built on the foundations of justice, fairness, and understanding. He stressed that peace in the Middle East will only be achieved with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President El-Sisi considered that Egypt's strength lies not only in its weapons but also in the awareness of its people, their unity, and their rejection of all calls for despair, division, and hatred.
He said, "Yes, the burdens are heavy and the challenges are great, but we will not bow down nor deviate from our aspirations for a dignified homeland." He added, addressing the Egyptian people, "I feel for you and assure you that alleviating the burdens on your shoulders is a top priority for the state, especially in light of the volatile conditions surrounding us."
