قتل أكثر من 50 شخصا في انهيار منجم تقليدي لتعدين الذهب بمنطقة «هويد»، الواقعة بين مدينتي عطبرة وهيا في السودان. وذكرت مصادر محلية أن المنجم يقع في منطقة صحراوية نائية شمال «هيا» وجنوب «الكليس». وأضافت أنه رغم أن الموقع يقع جغرافياً في ولاية البحر الأحمر، إلا أنه يتبع إدارياً لمدينة عطبرة بولاية نهر النيل.
وسبق أن شهدت نطقة «هويد» في شهر أبريل الماضي حادثة مماثلة، حين انهار بئر داخل المنجم، ما أدى إلى وقوع إصابات وخسائر.
وينتشر قطاع التعدين التقليدي للذهب في معظم أنحاء السودان، ويعمل فيه أكثر من مليوني شخص ينتجون نحو 80% من كمية الذهب الإجمالية المستخرجة في البلاد.

More than 50 people were killed in the collapse of a traditional gold mining site in the "Hewaid" area, located between the cities of Atbara and Haya in Sudan. Local sources reported that the mine is situated in a remote desert area north of "Haya" and south of "Kelis." They added that although the site is geographically located in the Red Sea State, it is administratively affiliated with the city of Atbara in the River Nile State.
The "Hewaid" area had previously witnessed a similar incident last April, when a well inside the mine collapsed, resulting in injuries and losses.
The traditional gold mining sector is widespread throughout Sudan, employing more than two million people who produce about 80% of the total gold extracted in the country.
