في عملية هي الأكبر من نوعها، أتلف مشروع «مسام» لنزع الألغام في اليمن، اليوم (الخميس)، 4620 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة من مخلفات الحرب في منطقة وادي دوفس بمديرية زنجبار بمحافظة أبين جنوب اليمن وذلك ضمن جهوده المستمرة لتعزيز الأمن المجتمعي وحماية أرواح المدنيين.
وقال بيان صادر عن مكتب «مسام» الإعلامي اليوم، حصلت «عكاظ» على نسخة منه، إن فريق المهمات الخاصة الأول نفذ اليوم عملية هي الأكبر من نوعها لتدمير 4620 قطعة من الذخائر ومخلفات الحرب (155 قذيفة منوعة و235 فيوزاً منوعاً، و85 سهمًا صلبًا خارقًا للدروع، و4096 طلقة منوعة، و13 لغماً مضاداً للأفراد، و5 ألغام مضادة للدبابات، و31 قنبلة يدوية). وأوضح قائد فريق المهمات الخاصة الأولى المهندس منذر قاسم أن العملية نُفذت بنجاح في منطقة آمنة، بعيدة عن التجمعات السكنية والمناطق الزراعية، مع الالتزام الكامل بالمعايير الدولية رغم التحديات الميدانية، مبيناً أن «عمل فرق المهمات الخاصة لا يتوقف طوال العام، نظراً لأهمية مهماته في حماية حياة المواطنين الأبرياء».
واستعرض قاسم الصعوبات التي واجهتهم في تنفيذ العمليات في ظل ارتفاع درجات الحرارة وظروف التضاريس المعقدة.

ويواصل مشروع «مسام» تنفيذ مهماته الإنسانية في مختلف المحافظات اليمنية التي تعاني من انتشار الألغام ومخلفات الحرب، في سبيل تطهير الأراضي وضمان عودة الحياة بأمان إلى المجتمعات المحلية.
وحقق مشروع «مسام» لتطهير الأراضي اليمنية من الألغام إنجازاً تاريخياً بوصوله إلى نزع نصف مليون لغم وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة منذ انطلاقه في يونيو 2018، وتمكنت من تطهير 67,585,167 متراً مربعاً من الأراضي اليمنية.
In the largest operation of its kind, the "Masam" project for mine clearance in Yemen today (Thursday) destroyed 4,620 landmines and unexploded ordnance from the remnants of war in the Wadi Dufas area of the Zinjibar district in Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance community security and protect civilian lives.
A statement issued today by the media office of "Masam," of which "Okaz" obtained a copy, indicated that the first special operations team carried out the largest operation of its kind today to destroy 4,620 pieces of munitions and remnants of war (155 assorted shells, 235 assorted fuses, 85 armor-piercing steel arrows, 4,096 assorted rounds, 13 anti-personnel mines, 5 anti-tank mines, and 31 hand grenades). The leader of the first special operations team, Engineer Munther Qasim, explained that the operation was successfully carried out in a safe area, far from residential gatherings and agricultural areas, while fully adhering to international standards despite the field challenges, noting that "the work of special operations teams does not stop throughout the year, due to the importance of their missions in protecting the lives of innocent citizens."
Qasim reviewed the difficulties they faced in executing operations amid rising temperatures and complex terrain conditions.

The "Masam" project for clearing Yemeni land from mines has achieved a historic milestone by reaching the removal of half a million landmines and unexploded ordnance and explosive devices since its launch in June 2018, managing to clear 67,585,167 square meters of Yemeni land.
