أعلنت وزارة الصحة في جمهورية أفريقيا الوسطى اليوم (الخميس) مقتل 29 طالباً على الأقل في العاصمة بانغي جراء تدافع ناجم عن انفجار محول كهربائي خلال امتحانات الشهادة الثانوية أمس (الأربعاء).
وأفادت وثيقة تم تداولها على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي وموثّقة من وزارة الصحة بوفاة 29 شخصاً في مستشفيات بانغي، ولم تتوافر أعداد دقيقة حتى مساء الأربعاء.
ووقع الانفجار قرابة الساعة 13:00 بالتوقيت المحلي حينما كان هناك أكثر من 5300 طالب يقدّمون الفحوص لليوم الثاني من الامتحانات الثانوية.
وذكر بيان صادر عن وزارة التعليم الوطني أن انفجاراً وقع أثناء محاولة إعادة الكهرباء بعد عطل فني، مبينة أن فريقاً تابعاً لشركة الطاقة الوطنية «إنرجي سنترافريكين» كان يقوم بأعمال صيانة للمحول داخل المدرسة.
وأوضحت الوزارة أنه سيتم فتح تحقيق عاجل لكشف ملابسات الحادثة، على أن يُعلَن لاحقاً موعد استئناف الجلسات المتبقية من امتحانات البكالوريا.
وأشارت الوزارة إلى أن الحادثة أدت إلى حالة من الذعر والهلع بين آلاف الطلبة الذين كانوا يؤدون الامتحانات، وبحسب أحد الطلاب فإن الانفجار وقع في منتصف الامتحان ما دفع الجميع إلى الركض، وسقط كثيرون من شدة الخوف.
وكانت مصادر طبية في مستشفيين بالعاصمة أفادت بأن الانفجار أسفر عن مقتل ما لا يقل عن 29 شخصاً، إضافة إلى عدد من الإصابات الخطيرة.
The Ministry of Health in the Central African Republic announced today (Thursday) that at least 29 students were killed in the capital, Bangui, due to a stampede caused by the explosion of an electrical transformer during the high school certificate exams yesterday (Wednesday).
A document circulated on social media and verified by the Ministry of Health reported the death of 29 individuals in Bangui hospitals, with no precise numbers available until Wednesday evening.
The explosion occurred around 1:00 PM local time when more than 5,300 students were taking their exams on the second day of the high school tests.
A statement issued by the Ministry of National Education indicated that the explosion happened while attempting to restore electricity after a technical failure, noting that a team from the national energy company "Energy Centrafrique" was conducting maintenance on the transformer inside the school.
The ministry clarified that an urgent investigation will be opened to uncover the circumstances of the incident, and the date for resuming the remaining sessions of the baccalaureate exams will be announced later.
The ministry pointed out that the incident caused panic and terror among the thousands of students taking the exams, and according to one student, the explosion occurred in the middle of the exam, prompting everyone to run, with many falling due to fear.
Medical sources in two hospitals in the capital reported that the explosion resulted in the deaths of at least 29 people, in addition to several serious injuries.
