The Iranian Ministry of Health revealed today (Monday) that the number of victims of the Israeli attacks on Iran has risen to 224 dead and more than a thousand injured.
Dr. Hossein Kermanpour, head of the Public Relations and Media Center at the Ministry of Health, stated in a post on social media that the total number of dead and injured has reached 1,481 people, including 1,277 who were transferred to university hospitals for treatment.
He reported that more than 90% of the injuries were recorded among civilians, noting that 522 of the injured have left the hospitals after receiving treatment. He confirmed that among the victims were women and children.
Israel launched a wide-ranging attack on Iran early last Friday with dozens of fighter jets, which it named "Rising Lion," targeting nuclear facilities and missile bases in various areas, and assassinating prominent military leaders and nuclear scientists.
The Israeli army stated that the attack was preemptive and came under directives from the political level, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the unprecedented operation aims to strike Iran's nuclear infrastructure, ballistic missile factories, and many other military capabilities, according to him.
On the same evening, Iran began responding to the attack with a series of ballistic missile strikes and drones, reaching 10 waves by Sunday evening, resulting - according to the announced Israeli statistics - in 14 dead and more than 345 injured, in addition to significant material damage affecting buildings and vehicles, as reported by the Israeli Ministry of Health.
