يعقد وزراء خارجية الاتحاد الاوروبي (الثلاثاء) اجتماعاً عبر الفيديو لمناقشة الوضع في الشرق الأوسط، بعد الهجوم الإسرائيلي على إيران والضربات المضادة التي شنتها طهران.
وأوضح متحدث باسم الاتحاد الأوروبي اليوم (الأحد)، أن مسؤولة السياسة الخارجية بالاتحاد الأوروبي، كايا كالاس، دعت إلى عقد مؤتمر عبر الفيديو لوزراء خارجية الاتحاد الأوروبي، (الثلاثاء)، لمناقشة الوضع في الشرق الأوسط، مشدداً بالقول: في ضوء خطورة الوضع في الشرق الأوسط، دعت الممثلة السامية للاتحاد الأوروبي كايا كالاس إلى اجتماع لوزراء خارجية الاتحاد الأوروبي عبر رابط فيديو ليوم الثلاثاء.
واضاف: سيوفر الاجتماع فرصة لتبادل وجهات النظر، والتنسيق بشأن التواصل الدبلوماسي مع تل أبيب وطهران، والخطوات التالية المحتملة.
وكانت رئيسة المفوضية الأوروبية أورسولا فون دير لاين قد قالت اليوم إنها تحدثت مع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو بشأن التطورات في الشرق الأوسط، مؤكدة في منشور على حسابها في «إكس» التزام الاتحاد الأوروبي بالسلام والاستقرار والجهود الدبلوماسية الرامية إلى خفض التصعيد.
وأضافت أورسولا: لطالما كانت أوروبا واضحة.. لا يمكن لإيران امتلاك سلاح نووي، هناك حاجة ملحة للتوصل إلى حل عبر التفاوض.
ويأتي الاجتماع الأوروبي فيما تتحدث وسائل إعلام إسرائيلية عن طلب نتنياهو من الأوروبيين تقديم المساعدة في الدفاع واعتراض الصواريخ الإيرانية، وبحسب هيئة البث الإسرائيلية فإن هدف إسرائيل إعادة تأسيس التحالف الدولي الذي كان قد عمل في الهجمات الإيرانية السابقة التي وقعت في أبريل 2024 وأكتوبر من العام نفسه.
وأشارت الهيئة إلى أن بريطانيا وافقت على المشاركة في الأنشطة الدفاعية، ومن المتوقع أن تتحرك قريباً، لكن مصدراً بريطانياً قال للهيئة: «نحن لا نعلق على القضايا التشغيلية»، فيما قال مصدر فرنسي للهيئة إن باريس مستعدة للتحرك.
وكان وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي قد ندد بموقف الحكومات الغربية قائلاً: «الحكومات الغربية دانت إيران بدلاً من إسرائيل، رغم كونها الطرف المعتدى عليه».
فيما قال عضو مجمع تشخيص مصلحة النظام الإيراني، محسن رضائي، إن الحرب مستمرة حتى تحقيق «الهزيمة الكاملة لإسرائيل».
The foreign ministers of the European Union will hold a video meeting on Tuesday to discuss the situation in the Middle East, following the Israeli attack on Iran and the counter-strikes launched by Tehran.
A spokesperson for the European Union stated today (Sunday) that the EU's foreign policy chief, Kaia Kallas, has called for a video conference for EU foreign ministers on Tuesday to discuss the situation in the Middle East, emphasizing: "In light of the seriousness of the situation in the Middle East, the EU High Representative Kaia Kallas has called for a meeting of EU foreign ministers via video link on Tuesday."
He added: The meeting will provide an opportunity to exchange views and coordinate on diplomatic communication with Tel Aviv and Tehran, as well as potential next steps.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated today that she spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding developments in the Middle East, affirming in a post on her "X" account the EU's commitment to peace, stability, and diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation.
Ursula added: "Europe has always been clear... Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons; there is an urgent need to reach a negotiated solution."
The European meeting comes as Israeli media report that Netanyahu has asked Europeans for assistance in defending against and intercepting Iranian missiles. According to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, Israel's goal is to re-establish the international coalition that had operated during previous Iranian attacks that occurred in April 2024 and October of the same year.
The authority noted that Britain has agreed to participate in defensive activities and is expected to move soon, but a British source told the authority: "We do not comment on operational matters," while a French source told the authority that Paris is ready to act.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi condemned the stance of Western governments, stating: "Western governments condemned Iran instead of Israel, despite being the aggrieved party."
Meanwhile, a member of the Iranian Expediency Discernment Council, Mohsen Rezai, stated that the war will continue until the "complete defeat of Israel" is achieved.
